As late as 1943 one of these aircraft destroyed an American Lockheed P-38 Lightning fighter which strayed into Spanish air space.
How the hell did it just stray into Spanish airspace? Did the pilot not realise he was heading SOUTH?? Presumably either from France or the UK?
Why would they donate one? Grateful gift perhaps?
This guy would have to be my favourite.
Trident II from a sub. From land, the SS-18 Mod 5 with 10 x 750kt MIRVs at a CEP of approx. 500m.
Glenn, as I said mate, there are but their water bourne forces come under Army control, and not a seperate naval arm!
Ja, settle down. I was just mentioning that there might be some more in Africa with riverine type forces, and not true navies.
My favourite, The Ta-152.
With a speed of 363mph at 6,000m and a max. cruise range of 1,850km, it is not hard to see why it was a Mossie match.
Thanks Peter, good to see her back to life, so to speak. She was in pretty bad shape in the 1971 photo.
I wouldn’t expect the 125-400 to try and fly unannounced into US airspace, not these days, that’s for sure. Mexico would make sense, and then offload it’s cargo.
Taiwan and AEGIS.. the perennial dream. 🙂
I think there might be a few more African countries with small riverine forces.
In Japan? Lucky Bugger. I miss my fiance….. 🙁
I still feel the He-100 had the potential to be something great. Did they ever consider a radial engine?
The Ju-88G did use BMW-801Ds.
A classic from JG 27! Have you seen the photo of it over the desert? It is stunning.
