I started on the Commodore 64, and then the Commodore 128 games. Microprose’s F-19 Stealth Fighter, Gunship, and others were classics. I still have a few old WIN95/98 games too.
Awsome looking machine. The Mil design, not the Kamov, has been chosen for the Russian Army? Also, how does the Roovialk (sp) from South Africa compare to the Mi-28?
As far as I recall both the HAVOC and HOKUM have been chosen, but only the HOKUM has seen action so far. The Russians want to induct the Mi-28N HAVOC-B ‘Night Hunter’ for obvious reasons. And 3,000 designs solutions for the 2nd prototype? I guess they must be getting close to the desired production standard, no?
The South African Rooivalk is no as heavily armed or armoured as the HAVOC, and is designed for a lighter battlefield role.

The F/A-22 and the F-16 both have ‘OT’ tail codes so I am going to guess the picture is taken near Eglin AFB in Florida. The F-16 is an ANG Falcon, and the Raptor would be attached to one of the Test & Evalution groups based there.
I have seen another pic of a Raptor with the same ‘OT’ code. I think this is where the production Raptors have been before they were transferred to Tyndall for OPEVAL training. Can anyone confirm this?
1) F-2 is about at same price as F/A-22, but inferior performance.
The Raptor is still the more expensive fighter, and the F-2 was not designed with air dominance in mind, so it is no surprise that it lags behind the F-2 performance wise. The JASDF will eventually take delivery of 130 F-2A/Bs.
Yes, but it reads like they didn’t even bother to proofread it.
Lazy as well………..
Would a alternative airport not have been better?Somewhere closer.
Brisbane would have been closer after 2 hours out of Sydney. Good point. 🙂
Go Koreaa!!!
Although I do wish they opted for the AESA radar instead.
lovely chaps they are.
Mid-life upgrade option?? 🙂
wrt HyperWarps post above… Wonder where the first picture was taken (all the pine trees don’t particularly remind me of Nellis, Edwards or Tyndall)??
Mark
The Raptor in the pics has an Edwards AFB serial, so I am guessing it is one of the late EMD airframes. As for the location, it doesn’t look like a flat arid region or desert, so that would pretty much rule out Nellis and Edwards, so it could be Tyndall. Never been there so I am not sure.
Absolutely FABULOUS photos!! 🙂
We’re all only human after all, and even the so called best in the business can stuff things up. 🙁
How long would it take for a probe to get to pluto? If I am not mistaken voyeger got some distant shots of pluto…………
Voyager 1 took 12 years to get to Neptune, and in theory it would have taken about another 3 years to have reached Pluto.
Of the eight MiG-21s sent to Israel for upgrades, only four arrived back to its air force. From my point of view Cambodia wanted MiG-21 upgrades because they just want to show it off to the Vietnamese and the Thais.
But one Vietnamese Su-27 or RTAF F-16 could easily wipe the entire Cambodian fleet, but will Cambodia purchase new fighters for its air force?
If they do I think the MiG-29 would be the best choice.
Don’t get to excited about any Cambodian plans they only spend about $110 million per year on defence. If they wanted Mig-29s, they might be able to pick up some old second-hand ‘A’ models for about the same price that Bangladesh payed for theirs. Maybe…… 😉
Great News! At least this time the pilot won’t have to worry about the engines cutting out if he over-does the throttle. Can’t wait to see them in a movie!
They have done a far bit of work downunder too providing airlift in 1999 during the East Timor operations, and then again for our deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq. We just lease their services when we need them. There does not appear to be much chance of getting C-17s for the RAAF.
