Will the DID sims run on WIN XP? I surely hope so….
The USN is buying the F-35C, the USMC is buying the F-35B. But the USAF is now mulling the option of buying some of the F-35Bs as well as the F-35A.
Could this be part of the SUMMER PULSE ’04 exercise?
According to Kanwa Defence News, which specialises in Chinese military matters, Beijing can cope with just one CSG currently.
‘But in five to 10 years, it can certainly take on seven,’ said Mr Chang Hong-yi, head of Kanwa, in an interview with The Straits Times.
How does he think they will go from tackling just one CSG, to taking on SEVEN in just 5-10 years?!?!
‘Even now, China can easily take on two CSGs,’ he said but conceded that there was no way it could face seven all at the same time.
Not conventionally, but with a nuclear strike perhaps?
This means that if China has to wage war over Taiwan, it has to be able to land and seize control of the island within the first 30 days.
I would think 15 days would be a preferred time table if they invaded.
‘All this leaves China with no choice but to start and end the war with lightning speed,’ said the source.
Their only real hope of that would be a massive air and missile attack with NBC warheads, and hope that Taiwan submit.
So what do you think of Carlo Kopp as a journalist?
Fine, as long as he sticks to what he knows. His credibility has taken a dive in recent years with his rather alarmist, and highly unlikely fictional strategic scenarios to try and justify the need for certain big ticket platforms in the Australian Defence Forces. And at the same virtually discrediting the army and the navy as next to useless in defending the nation in war time. He believes the air force CAN do it all!
But on a purely technical level wouldn’t the deleting of inactive profiles free up memory/bandwidth for the server and speed things up for the rest of us?
While working at the Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas I met President Bill Clinton twice and got to shake his hand. Also met Chancellor Helmut Kohl back then too. Met George Clooney while working in Room Service as well, and spoke to John Cusack a couple of times on the phone while in Switch. This all happened between 1996 and 1998.
I would be suprised if they haven’t!
The Singapore AF has spent quite a bit of time exercising with us down under too (and the US IIRC), let’s see if they can put that to good use.
New system
I will eventually be buying a new computer and want to outfit it for the very best flight sim games, and combat sims too.
Would people recommend 512MB of RAM right off or even 1GB? I know it is cheap now.
And for the CPU, P4 or Athlon?
And the 3D card? 128MB or 256MB? What is currently the best you can get?
And for the screen? LCD flat or large CFT?
Perhaps a point defence fighter (maybe 10 minuntes) ala the Me 163 in WW2. Afterwards you could roll up to the gas station like Bond did in Octopussy and top up the tanks…..
😉
Wish I made more money right now, but I don’t have enough space anyway. My own collection is approaching that size in magazines but I have over 200 books already.
the 052C and rumoured 051C by PLAN have ensured that IN has get into the AAW wagon – fast.
the P17A (4th ship of the class) is the first possible entry point for Aster30 & a PA radar. the first two ships are already fitting out with Shtil and the third ship is probably nearing the point of hull launch. Similarly as of Jan04 they were building hull of P15A first ship though superstructure details hadnt been finalized yet..maybe an outside chance of P15A getting aster.
My guess is that they might go Aster-15 on the P17A (Flight II?), and Aster-30 on the much larger P15A. There might even be a further mod of the P15 design to dedicate it to AAW. Perhaps a P15B?
2005? Another opitimistic Indian estimate perhaps? I got 2007 from a very recent article in MILTECH magazine on future Indian naval plans. Will have to wait and see I guess. Perhaps the author of the MILTECH artcile was adding some justifiable pessimism for anticipated development delays?
What was said just 5 months ago: At a press conference in Mumbai on 06 January 2004, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Madhvendra Singh stated that two prototypes of the Naval LCA have been ordered and the first flight of the aircraft is expected in 2007.
