Good to know. There were some real gloomy threads on Aviabasa about it.

Great Ka-52 pic.
what does this mean about Su-33s? Upgrades, decommission? How many multirole fighters can this ship carry at once? If 24 Mig-29Ks are taking space of Su-33s, that that seems like a downgrade of range capability.
The Su-33s have already received a light modernization/overhaul. Past 2015 they will decide to keep or retire them. MiG-29s overall footprint is smaller than Su-33, so they will be able to carry more.
It has been confirmed, 24 MiG-29K for the Russian Navy.
Weird, latest news indicated the number is actually 28.

The crashed Su-30 was like I suspected, a Vietnamese one. The factory will replace the bird in time with the original contract.
In fact they both use the same LWR/MAWS systems by NPP-SPK, which were first demonstrated on MiG-35 #154 in 2006 and while the IRSTs may be different they’re also both from that company. OTOH, the T-50 systems are manufactured by UOMZ.
Hopefully we don’t see a repeat of the UOMZ fiasco with both MiG-35 and Ka-52.
Su-35 also has launch and laser warning systems.
New IRST as well.

It’s gonna be an expensive missile. 😮
if you want, you can send something like Canon EF 600mm f/4.0 L IS USM to Yura – I have address:D

In the meantime I will continue craving a PAK-FA wallpaper for a 1080p screen.
I love that angle. A high res background would be sweet.
Does the fuselage area really matter that much in this discussion though? The aircraft is customer driven, and the RuAF seems to not have a concern that the width remains the same.
“The Chinese party has shown interest in acquisition of a number of Su-35 jets and submitted a proposal to us in 2011. At present this problem is being elaborated by the designated institution of Russia”, – said the First Deputy Director General of Federal Service of Military-Technical Cooperation, Alexander Fomin.
Doesn’t sound that old. Interesting, to be sure.
Domestic production is priority right now. Even if the report is true, they would not be able to get any past 2015.
For the very 1st prototype its quite good. She doesn’t even have the 5th gen engines. But the minimum radius turn was nowhere near the J-10. In the 2008 J-10 does it in about 18-19 sec 2010 was something like 16-17 sec IIRC.
Presumably the pilot isn’t trying to turn as hard as he could though.
I am not aware of any newly ordered Su-30MK2s. The last ones were those four Su-30M2 to VVS and few examples to Uganda. Are any deliveries still ongoing?
Vietnam has some orders.
