When we talk about copying, most of the people point their fingers at Russia or China. But Poland have been one of the biggest copycat living off with all the “modified” Soviet systems and at the same time bitching about Russia.

That Polish upgrade isn’t even worth of being called an upgrade. More like a kapremont and slight overhaul.

No offence, but I don’t need expert knowledge or mega-eyeball-radars to be able to tell that the underbody would have a lower RCS if those bumps and bulgers caused by the engine intakes were flattened out and filled in for a uniform, rectangular underside.;)

It may be that the present shape already has low enough RCS to be able to compete with the Raptor or JSF already. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t further room for improvement.

Can we honestly stop questioning Sukhoi’s competence through eyeballing? Do you really, REALLY think Sukhoi wouldn’t have lowered RCS if there were such obvious areas for improvement?

It is getting old. I guarantee, 100%, if the PAK-FA was matte black half of this questioning wouldn’t even be around.

EDIT: Also, like Flateric said, look at cost effectiveness. Pointless “marble-sized” RCS figures that have no bearing on actual combat conditions, not to mention maintenance, production cost….hell the damn thing isn’t even flying half the time. Somehow I think Sukhoi took a goooood look at the F-22s woes…
