    Maybe after these 6 there will be 3 of the export variety of the 22350?

    There won’t be any more 11356s for Russian navy after the 6, that is almost certain.

    Added the An-140.
    The Lybian Yak-130s should not affect total numbers right, just speed of delivery? Some firm numbers of aiframes today, and planned for next few years would be great.

    I included the Su-30M2 in the Su-27SM Modernized/New built section. 4 Su-30M2 + 12 new Su-27SM + 53 upgraded Su-27SM. A number have crashed.

    Updates some Su-24 and Su-25 numbers.

    PAK-FA: Not gonna speculate on numbers on this, too many variables.
    Su-35S: 96 expected by 2020.
    Su-34: ~120 intended by 2020, and should be achievable by industry.
    MiG-29SMT/UB: 34 “new” airframes. No more planned.
    Su-27SM/SM3/30M2: 66 today, no more expected IMO.
    Su-24M2: ~10 Gefest&T aiframes, and anywhere from 24 to 48 M2s. More to be modernized??? If so unlikely to be G&T.
    MiG-29K: 24 sometime this decade.
    MiG-35: ???
    Su-30SM: 40.
    MiG-31BM: ~20 as of now, will the final figure be the ~100 or so 31s operated through 2020?
    Su-25SM: ~80 by 2014. 43 today, 36 more through 2013. Further modernization and 16(?) UBM planned.
    Yak-130: 12. Deal for 60 to be signed soon, total ~130?

    Mi-28N: 97 by 2015. Final plans have been announced as over 200, but that seems a lot given the other attack helo orders. Either way, production would have to be boosted from today’s ~15/year to meet this in a reasonable time frame. Modernization underway.
    Ka-52: 30 by 2012, production will continue after. A number of 120 has been floated.
    Mi-35M: 22 ordered, Russian Helicopters seemed to imply more might be bought; given the above two gathering pace, seems unlikely.
    Mi-26: 20 new airframes by 2020.
    Ka-226: 6 through 2011. 36 current order, 20 more for Navy?
    Mi-8 (All Variants): Many. ~500?
    Ka-62: Recent info indicates MOD interest in over 100 airframes…still vague at this time.
    Ansat-U: Up to 70 through 2020.
    Ka-27/29: ~70 ?
    Ka-52K: ~30 ?

    An-124: 20 new airframes.
    An-140: First airframe delivered…10 on order.
    An-70: See previous pages for rage fest. First airframe to be acquired by 2013.
    Il-476: See previous pages for rage fest. First airframe to be acquired before 2013.
    Il-76MD-90: At least 6, possibly 12.
    L-410: 3 delivered.
    Tu-204/214: 8.

    Hmmm. Those have a number of changes from the Export 9-12s delivered to India in the main batch. Wonder how the SMT upgrade will address that.

    Ah, very nice find Kramer thanks. Exactly what I was talking about. However one question- when did Indian MiG-29s gain ability to simultaneously attack two separate targets with SARH missiles? Did India purchase any MiG-29 9-13s or MiG-29C in the 90s?

    You are only talking about aviation. That is not the whole picture to say the least. Even in aviation, when SU-27 and MiG-29 came out, they improved upon the aerodynamic configurations used up till then. Yes, there was an avionics lag no doubt. But avionics are not the whole picture, and neither is fighter aircraft.

    Please, don’t get into the communism operational dogma talk, it is fantasy for the most part. CGI doctrine is not an extension of communist ideology, sorry. It is a deliberate choice based on how warfare would be realistically fought, at least, the Soviet interpretation of this. The sort of nonsense written about say PVO pilots being drones by the West back in the Cold War was just ignorance. I don’t want to get into an F-16/MiG-29 discussion, but on the subject, what would an F-16 even have done against a MiG-29 during a Cold War encounter? It didn’t even have BVR armament, and up close, no HMS and R-73. F-16s would have been used as part of an AWACS/larger BVR armed fighter network….sounds like the exact same thing CGI would have done for the MiG-29.

    Russia is cutting its assets not because it is moving to some “WEstern” ideal, but because it is the economi reality of the post Cold War world. For their time, the Su-27, the MiG-31, etc etc, were all highly capable platforms.

    But that does not mean it to be superior, during the cold war soviets always had bigger numbers compared to western Europe, but their weapons were inferior in a technological point of view and am sure if ever a war broke out it would have shown on the exchange ratios.

    That’s a gross simplification, and not true in even the majority of cases. The whole “backwards Soviet” horde thing is 80% Cold War nonsense. It can’t be applied across the board.

    Yes, Sukhoi may have tech demo that features s duct but the PAk-FA doesn’t. But tech demo is as the name suggested, it doesn’t come any closer to a real a/c deployed.

    The point is, S-duct is clearly not the only way to stealth. Sukhoi has built s-duct aircraft before, and rejected it.

    Eyeballing which approach is better for stealth is stupid.

    I don’t think anyone said an s duct being more advanced. But yes we can eyeball shaping to an extent and I think the underside of j-20, along with f-22 is stealthier than that of f-35 and Pak fa. Eyeballing rcs and overall aerodynamics is flawed IMO but we can eyeball parts of an aircraft’s shaping and come to a decent conclusion

    I think such a conclusion is inherently flawed.

    After all, Sukhoi, had an aircraft…that had S-ducts…a flat clean belly…hell was matte black too 😉 , and yet they went for a different configuration on the PAK-FA. That tells me something. Anyways, this is going OT.

    What is technically advanced about an S-duct?

    Does seem odd. If they want repeairs done on the Black Sea, don’t they have their own dockyard at Novorossiysk?

    Cost likely, these are not destroyers we are taking about, likely small simple craft.

    Not gonna shed any tears, Ukraine should not have acted with such hostility to the BSF for years. Yanykovich seems to expect economic handouts.

    Don’t see how that article has much of a point honestly. Yes the initial gestation period is awfully slow. What do they expect? The program started before the 2011-2020 Gosplan, and hence funding was far more scarce. Further, it is a new project. What basis do they to comment on expense and complication of the entire class when the first vessel is still fitting out? The 11356 purchase was a good decision, and frankly not news to anyone.

    After the 6 11356Ms are completed, Yantar will likely be brought over to 22350 production.

    Further, the actual construction time for even the lead ship (naturally slower than the rest of the class, and like I said, laid down in financially rougher times) is not awfully slow or anything. Plenty of foreign warships that took as long or longer to complete. Yawn. Another doomsday article, Russian web is full of them.
