Good photo showing the offset rear fuselage…..

That’s for stability reasons if I recall?
Now, this is a difficult question given the intricacies of the deal, but nevertheless, how much is Pakistan paying per unit for the JF-17 right now? Is it really in the sub 20$ million vicinity? Seems absurdly low.
Are you sure RuAF wants a single engined fighter ? Mig 29/Su 27 lo/hi suggests on the contrary,
I think you are right, I meant I would like to see a single engine compliment to the high end PAK-FA- the RuAF current force structure certainly suggests they prefer the two engine route. This can’t last forever though.

IMO India should do the AMCA on its own, it can do everything apart from the powerplant which the GTRE/Snecma Kaveri Eco will sort out.
Yes, but in what time frame? Tejas doesn’t leave me much optimism that a completely in-house project will have any sort of reliable schedule.
I think going at a 5th gen program alone is stupid from an economic perspective, unless of course you have a specific requirment that no one else fits. I find it had to believe India and Russia couldn’t come to an agreement on an adaptable light(ish) platform.
But AMCA is supposed to be 2 engine correct? I think the RuAF needs a single engine “5th gen” platform.
Both Russia and India will eventually need something 5th:gen (ish) in the medium weight class. So it makes sence.
And MiG absolutely needs to get its ass moveing sooner rather than later. Or it will go bust*. Not mouch left to squeeze out of the Fulcrum anymore.*) Or rather be merged with Sukhoi, -and thus cease to exist as an independent firm.
Given the integration of Russian aerospace firms, it may be inaccurate to look at the company as a single entity anymore, for better or for worse.
Since when can Rafale carry Brimstone
Let alone, on a “combat proven” add.

This is interesting. The Sokol plant might not take part in Yak-130 deliveries to the RuAF in 2011 and 2012. Apparently the MOD has not yet declared a competition to whom the construction order would go to? The general director said Sokol is completely busy with MiG aircraft though 2012, so they are ready to “give away” Yak-130 production. This June the plant will hand over the final Yak-130 ordered under the Gosoboronzakaz-2010. This order was for 12 aircraft by 2010, though the plan was pushed back to mid 2011.

Some decent footage of the new Alligators.
Okay.
So how potent are the Su-34/35 internal ECM capabilities?
And how do the Sapfir pods on the Su-34 improve the capabilities?Or do we have that information? Because I think the RuAF is generally pretty tight lipped about ECM and jamming capabilities.
Little tidbit- Su-34 operated in strike package defense (covering a number of Su-24s) during the war with Georgia- and this was on all internal system, that big centraline pod was not present.
Sorry if repost
hm this is very interesting.. could it be that the Indian AF is quite satisfied with the T-50 that they are confident on Russia’s ability to help them with a lighter fighter? Could Russia also buy these, perhaps as a MiG-29 replacement? very interesting times ahead.
Yes it is, single engine, cheap(er than PAK-FA) 5th gen plane would be excellent for RuAF. If this is definitive stuff….hmm.
Could be a significant market with those two air forces alone, export potential as well.

Not really related to anything, but refutes some of those silly accusations of problems with spare parts for Malaysian Flankers, and them turning to China.

Uh, umm, wow. There has been strong indication the MOD would order the Ka-60, but I am still surprised. According to Dnitry Petrov, general director of Russian Helicopters, the MOD has ordered around 100 Ka-60s. Kamov has two prototypes currently under construction, first is to fly in 2012. These will differ from today’s Ka-60s. Serial production is expected to start in 2015.

Excellent photo essay of an S-300V Battalion. Some very rare photos of interiors of command posts too.
