Yes, for a long time it was stored and worked on in a hangar at Yeovilton. I last saw it some years back when I flew from there in a piston Provost that was kept in the same hangar. I believe the Pup moved to a non-airfield site later.

How true – proud pedant 😎
Call me a pedant, but it is an MS.500.
Indeed it is, though painted to represent a Luftwaffe example. It has also reverted to its Argus power after a period fitted with a radial as F-BBUG I believe. I think some MS produced examples had frames laid down during German controlled production in France but were completed later, when the French decided to continue production for their own use. If so are those considered to be Storches too; who knows?

It still survives at Fox Field then?

Good news, I don’t think these machines reached European skies, remember seeing some of these birds in the late 80’s at Medan airport in Sumatra. Thanks for posting the link.
Not in service true, but some YS-11s have appeared here, for example one was demonstrated at Farnborough and another passed through Southend for some work on it not too many years back.

The Cessna 336 / 337 series are pretty noisy too, though I didn’t find that noticeable when on board one of those. The Piaggio P.136 though appears to be quite noisy on board based on this video clip!

Two Piaggio P.136 amphibians (G-AOFN and G-APNY) were once registered in the UK.

A US registered Piaggio P.136 N40040 arrived in Wick from the USA yesterday I believe and was then due to fly to Italy. Perhaps what you sighted?
Here is a link to a photo of it: http://www.airliners.net/photo/Piaggio-P-136-L2-Royal/1014776/L/&sid=39ba4905f67395910c9bdd6dc491942b

Just checked sources in particular “Squadrons of the FAA”:
Deck letter C was used by the following Royal Navy carriers:
HMS Colossus (1945)
HMS Indomitable (1946)
HMS Implacable (1948 – 51)
HMS Centaur (1954 – 67)
Tim
IIRC it was H.M.S. Implacable that was allocated deck code C.

Is any more detail available on when the Mig is due to arrive please?
Several news organisations misreported his aircraft as having been a jet powered version (which it was not) and so inappropriately made a link to the Bond film. This incident is very sad news. I knew him years back; a really helpful guy. R.I.P.
The Dragon and Fox Moth you operate are superb. Thank you Stan for kindly hosting me for the day and showing me your wonderful collection earlier this year.

At $2.2m a pop, I wonder how many their business plan says they expect to sell.
Well if they started making repro Ju 52/3m the IWM could be in the market – to replace the Amiot 😀

The recent forced landing involved HAF 1070. The mention of that prior delivery of two ex Canadian examples to Turkey reminded me of the crew training and the unfortunate damage inflicted on one airframe when the undercarriage was not lowered during landing back at base. There is a clip on YouTube showing that rather dramatic arrival!
