that’s one hell of a Varsity, a friend of mine flew them in service in the 60’s, he wasn’t impressed with the power available, could be hard work 🙂
Not a Varsity – it’s a Valleta I think a T.4 iirc. I was at that event at Ternhill – brings back happy memories.

Beautiful images as usual. Perhaps you should send some to the commentator at Shuttleworth who announced during the airshow yesterday that their’s is the sole airworthy example
I’m used to seeing G-PIGY trundling porcinely round the Kidlington area, but today there’s been a dark blue Skyvan doing the trundling. Has PIGY had a respray from white with blue trim, or is there another Skyvan around?

G-BEOL most likely. It has such a colour scheme. It suffered a nose-wheel collapse at Weston-o-t-G earlier this year but has been restored to health I believe.

Any news on the future of the one currently in the Falklands. Will it be returning to the UK?
It returned and is one of these last two about to retire
Really good day today at Brize Norton. The event was very well organised and all three aircraft VC10 Tristar and C130K
were open for inspection (incl cockpits) together with air crew on hand to answer questions. There was unrestricted access to the 3 machines with good photo opportunities to all.
A big thankyou to the organisers. News from the airfield is that ZA147 will fly out 10am Tues to Dunsfold where it will remain for sometime. Last VC10 leaves for Bruntingthorpe on weds at 9.45am expected at Brunty at 11am (all departure times obviously subject to change!)Some less than perfect shots taken from my phone to give a general idea but I am sure others more experienced with a camera will provide a better visual portrayal of the event.
Thanks to all the folk who organised and ran this excellent event. Although it was stated on the shuttle-bus out to the pan that ZA147 would be the Dunsfold bound example, some crew members with the VC-10 reckoned (as indicated previously on other Forums) that it would be ZA150 leaving on Tues and ZA147 would be going to Bruntingthorpe on Weds.- So I guess it’s watch this space?

A clue! The beginning of the end! Some are close.
Might that be a reference to the THUM Flight and Woodvale which was a last user of the PRXIX? So did it force land at Woodvale when later with the BBMF and was the caravan related to glider flying control perhaps?
Tim
No, there was one that flew at OW in the 80s (briefly) before heading to the US

The black Sea Hawk is in the colours it wore when with Airwork for fleet requirements flying at Hurn. The background looks like Hurn at that time. The Sea Hawk later adopted SAH codes at Culdrose and is now at Duxford. It arrived at Duxford still with SAH marks but now carries period marks. So your picture is pre SAH.

Of the survivors you list, three of them purely comprise nose sections, namely : MXA, NAV, PDF. The nose of RCAF 5301 is preserved in Canada. Can’t find my slide of it but here’s a link to another photographer’s work: http://www.jimnewtonphotography.net/coppermine/displayimage.php?album=24&pos=0
From the operator’s website it’s scheduled to be doing flights in Germany over this coming weekend, see: http://www.rimowa-in-the-air.com/en/reservierung.html
On other forums however, its being assumed by some that the aircraft is going to go Goodwood. Anyone know what date / time it’s due to leave White Waltham?
Many years ago I had the honour of introducing Ken as our guest of honour at a VAC dinner. He was a true gentleman – a man of many talents, a great aviator and inventor, a wonderful speaker but above all modest about his many achievements. He will remain an example to us all and be greatly missed.

Was at the bear inn last night and ken’s old hanger is still in the back garden of the forge. Have got a few fond memories of going there with my late father several times in the early seventies, Does anyone know if he has now passed away?
He most certainly is still alive!
