Thanks for the update Damien. Seems however it made it in today so that’s good news.
Should be a good event – but can anyone confirm if a Martin Baker Meteor will be in the static? If so which example of the two they use – will the black one come out to play again (I see it was at Northolt last weeken)? Inclusion of one as static is predicted in AI magazine and by certain airshow websites, but the Kemble Air Day website makes no mention – though that may not be significant as their publicity seems to avoid any useful mention of the static, not even the E28/39 FSM.
You had better weather than we suffered in the UK (deluged is putting it mildly). Thanks for posting these pics – refreshing to see some silver airframes for a change. The DC-2 is superb – I last saw that example when it visited Duxford back in the 80s (well before it was exported to Holland). Glad to see its airworthy again.

[QUOTE=JDK;1124110]…………………………………
It seems we like to downgrade and ignore the early war period, because it was messy, embarrassing, and we had inadequate equipment, and basically, we kept losing. A little recognition of those who stemmed the totalitarian tide in the early days so we could regroup and come back to win, should hardly be a big ask. …………………
I totally agree James. Indeed there are other examples re machines of that era. When years ago the ex Charles Church Battle was worked on at Duxford, it was after a while relegated to external storage with a tarp over the then unglazed cockpit area. I think it also got some storm damage to the U/C. It was eventually obtained by the Brussels collection. There may have been some ownership / hangarage space or payment issues I’m unaware of, but it seems a shame the IWM didn’t obtain that machine. Maybe the owner at that time didn’t make it available – but if they did and the IWM didn’t want it then that’s another story. It was no less significant say than the WW1 era DH9 they’ve more recently obtained via a valuable exchange.
Hi Daniel
Stunning A-A shot. I’ll be over in Sweden this Summer so would be interested to know where the Mustang is based and whether any details have been released of proposed airshow appearances in Sweden – any gen available?

Thanks for sharing an excellent selection of images – I like the way your hosting system displays them.
I went to Kbely last year and was really impressed by the scope of exhibits that not only encompass the different eras but embrace civil as well as military aviation history. The quality of some of the replicas that represent extinct types is astounding. I found the staff really helpful. I especially wanted to see the SARO Cloud due to its British origin. As I didn’t notice it in your selection I’ve taken the liberty of attaching one of my shots here. The Cloud was at that time in a building that was not open to the public. It seems there have been several movements since my visit as the Tu104, Il-14, Sabre, An 24 and Il28 etc are now in the museum area rather than on the live airfield.
I was fortunate enough to attend a lecture given by him at Oshkosh a few years back – absolutely spell binding. If you’ve never read his autobiography you’ve really missed a treat – a man of real determination and natural ability.
Hi Ben,
Twas the MAM, although they stored her externally at Duxford under a tarp’ for a while before release to a new owner for restoration. I’m really looking forward to her being back in the air – she has one of the cleanest lines of any twin and deserves a wider audience. When at Redhill with the Chelsea college she was silver with a red cheat-line.

Silver RAF Tigermoth with roundel and what I think is a Silver Proctor again with roundel.

I see the PPrune thread credits M P Marsh as the photographer – I think Maurice is still around and living in the Lincolnshire area. A lot of his 1950s shots were taken in the Midlands.
Interesting example – a UK built one I believe. When I last visited Dux she was still in the workshops behind the hangars and was well into its restoration. Earlier in the year “Smudge” kindly allowed me to take some piccies when he was checking dimensions and alignments using some temporary templates and string etc. I think the initial poster is getting confused with another example as this one has never flown in the UK nor been displayed statically.

I have 3 shots in my collection of it in DA colours. All show the DA emblem on the cowling, one depicts it during a period when it also carried Derby Aviation titles in large letters on the white area behind the windows and above the cheat-line. I can’t scan them for various reasons but if you explain why you need to know in a p.m. I’ll try to help.

Lucky the experts on here don’t charge $300 consultancy fees for identifying such items and so enabling this:D
Could have done with some warning it was a crash sequence as I wouldn’t have opened it – I hope the pilot survived his helpers seem oblivious to potential hidden injuries.
The helicopter appears to be an Elisport CH-7 Angel which is a kit machine of Italian origin.
Rapide over Sheffield at 16.50 21 April
Whilst I was travelling North up the M1 on Sat 21 April, taking my son back to Uni, I noticed the glorious sight of a Rapide over Sheffield at about 16.50hrs. I assume it was one of AA’s?
