. The Darling Lili “SE5″s were absolutely hideous ,as I recall those in TBM (Miles?) not too bad. Also what happened to the Rousseau “DVII”s? -they seemed to disappear soon after. .
The Mini SE5’s were not that bad, to the General public they would look fine on the screen, the nose was scled wrong so they looked a little pug nosed!! They served well and did what was needed of them, very easy for people to scoff tears later  The miles SE5’s looked good but had a slightly longer nose to accomodate the Gipsy Queen Engine, they were also a bit of a handfull to fly.
The Rousseau DVII’s all went to the USA in the early 80’s to the FAC (see earlier post!!) They had been in store at Powerscourt with the rest of the Replica’s since the filming of VR & B. One is now with The Stampe Museum in Antwerp currently under rebuild, the other two are still in the USA, one with Javier Arango ( who also has the Bianchi Pfalz ) and is airworthy, the other is as far as i know not airworthy at this time with another US owner.
Miles SE5 and a Mini to compare. plus both in a line up at Weston
I thought the first flight was done by someone else – John something? I don’t have the FP article in front of me to confirm the surname, however!
Allison?
Would this film also account for another Dr1 replica on the G-info owned by someone we all know?
Nope, it would’nt
Yes ” Darling Lili” and other WW1 films were made in Ireland around that time and reused the same A/C. Richard Bach did some flying for Von Richtofen and Brown, also released as “The Red Baron. Filming for all these films took place at Weston and Baldonel, Powerscourt was where the A/C were stored for many years. The hangar they were in fell down durring a storm and many were badly damaged, shortly afterwards they were sold to the USA to “The Fighting Air Comand” As for ” The Red Baron/ Von Richtofen & Brown” the link to an earlier thread is below and i will say no more.

I thought I read somewhere (possibly on this very forum) that a few of the SE5a replicas were based around something else?
I’ve had a search but can’t find the thread it was mentioned on, so I’m probably completely wrong!
Yep you are 😉
What you thinking of is the 7/8th SE5’s that were made by Slingsby’s based on The Curry Wot. These were made for the film “Darling Lili” that followed and utalized the other replica’s ( Film company’s like to get their moneys worth  ) It was derrek Piggots idea to reduce the amount of Tiger Moths used but also reduce the cost of producing more full size Replica’s
here is a pic of Dad with one of the Mini Se’s while shooting another film” You Carnt Win Em All” plus one of the Se’s durring “Darling Lili” Filming
The Dalotiel is up for sale on his website

[If you have strong feelings about this, it could be worth getting in touch with Woburn Abbey, and letting them know, before the rates are finally established, and publicity material circulated.[/QUOTE]
I fear it will fall on deaf ears with the Abbey, i feel that the new administration dont realy want this event at Woburn anymore. Come to Sywell on the Saturday and see them for free 🙂 There should be a fair number flying in for the Annual moth dinner which is being held in Hangar One this year.
Just an update on this thread, made contact with Cliff Robertson and what a loverly man he is. He is currently writting his autobiography and i was able to supply him with some Pics for this lost Film. He says that the Film was nevr completed, the Producer was killed along with others in the Mid Air between the SE5 and the Helicopter durring the filming of “Zepperlin” made shortly afterwards. He belives that the flying sequences could well have been used elsewhere but doesent know of their excistence, this could explain the “Fanny Hill” conection? Pic of CR on set below.
