eemm, the pics of the “Moth engine and tank” looks a bit odd to me  The cowlings etc dont look like DH60 or 82a? engine has Rocker covers and push rod tubes so would indicate 82 but exhaust manifold looks 60 with an odd tail on it??
And that is the problem, it has gone unsold for over a year 😉
Unfortunately its not got the general apeal of some other types such as TM’s
Still a rare aeroplane that deserves a good home.
This one has been for sale for about one year, and is the only one flying in the world. It is, however, a bit dear! Last time I heard was 75.000 Euros 😮
75,000 euro,s, thats about £50, £55K. For the only one flying in the world of only 6 ever made  You will pay £50K for Tiger Moth these days, as has been said many times before on the forum it is worth what someone is prepared to pay for it, but if its in good condition i dont think £50 ish K is that bad.
[QUOTE=
A real pity he wont speak to me in view of our shared interest in Miles and Ryan ( there is a PT22 there too, in addition to a Vultee and Cornell I believe, plus others.)
Hairy[/QUOTE]
Bob had 3 PT22’s and i know at least 2 are still with him plus a PT 23 ( not a Cornell 😉 ) He also has BT 17, Pitts S2a ( ex Rothmans), Stampe (ex Rothmans) Stephens Acro, And the two Miles, whitney Straight and Monarch ( both in a bad way)
Also gem of gems is the loverly KZ8.
Bob has been discussing getting some of these treasures airworthy again. 🙂
That looks like one of the Salmson from “Gunbus” that we had a thread about a while ago?!
But it should make the projected BoB film Cruise is supposed to be keen on doing very interesting. If he’s soloed on a P51, a Spit or Hurricane should’nt be too much trouble. I can’t recall a film in which the star actually flew an aircraft. Weird guy but I can’t help liking him.
George Peppard had a PPL durring thre filming of “The Blue Max” and was keen to do some flying but the film company would not allow it, he was allowed to do some taxying but that was all.
[OFF TOPIC] Mmmm, Kristin Scott-Thomas… You can keep your Susannah Yorks and Tara Fitzgeralds… [/OFF TOPIC]
I was tempted to say have you got any pics!! 😀 But we might get removed by the moderators!!
I aways remember John swinging the prop of G-AROY then running around to climb in the cockpit, as i was standing by G-AGTM’s wing tip. Then waving to him, when i was a member of Russavia crew at Duxford.
John never ran, he would swing the prop of the Stearman and it would cough gently into life. He would then walk to the wing tip whilst chatting to whoever and putting on his helmet, as the Stearman moved fwd he would wallk down the Trailing edge and climb aboard as the Stearman bumbled off!
What happy memories 🙂
So So Sad 🙁 another character gone from the Airdisplay world. Last time i saw John he was still looking well. Many happy memories of time with John at Barnstormer Displays and listening to some of his stories about his exploits. Who can forget Johns displays in his beloved Stearman, sad news indeed 🙁
Aces High featured a silvery-blue Tiger Moth painted in German markings in several sequences, most notably in the first big dogfight (where it gets shot down by one of the Stampe “SE5s”).
Thats the sort of thing, but has anyone out there got pics of these aeroplanes durring filming? We all see them on screen, surley someone took pics of them durring the filming?
There was also a flyin tiger used in the English patient, was of Italian decent, canot for the life of me remember the registration!!
You mean this one of FM
RB failed to sell at £6k…
🙁
No suprise there!!
There was one used in “Thunderbird Six” – and flown under a motorway bridge!
ARHH, forgot that one, that was Reading Flying Groups G- ANFM, GASML got any pics? Waldo Pepper ones are well known but were modified, all be it only slightly. The sea Fox sounds interesting? it pics we need! 😀
Delta Aviation do pleasure flights in Tiger Moths and (apparently now a deHavilland Rapide). IIRC they are Sywell based but don’t quote me on that.
Delta Offer “Trial Lessons” in Tiger Moths, big difference to a Pleasure flight! for that you need an AOC. Trial Lessons can be done by a flying school with an Instructor. As hairy plane has pointed out, taking money for a ride without an AOC and all that goes with it isnt allowed by the CAA. The rides in the Rapied are being done by AA under their AOC, Delta are effectively acting as the booking agent.
Rob – apart from the runway there is nothing of any substance there. It does however make it easier to put up new build hangars which are warm and don’t leak!
I would say that the future at Coventry for anyone will be interesting if the airlines make a success of it.
The Runway would need a huge amount of work to make it useable for that sort of opperation!
