there’s an operation offering flights in a Harvard out of Sywell and Rochester.
And here’s the link 🙂

I cannot understand why she fell in to decline so quickly.
Looking at the website she seemed well cared for, and a lovely new engine fitted not that long ago.
It’s a real shame 🙁
Looks im afraid can somtimes be decieving!! As for loverly new engine? ask the bloke that had the engine failure just after it was fitted how loverly he thought it was 😮
Leave somthing like this outside over a wet British winter and you will see how quickly it will decline.
And yes it is a real shame 🙁
If only A) i had the money and B) i didnt know her mechanical history !
Bless ‘er she didnt do anyone any harm….. 🙁
As shes been resident at sywell from c.1952 to 2004, she really should return but apart from selling a kidney i dont have the cash, or the required money for an engine rebuild 😮
TT
With you there TT, she should return home. But knowing what state she is in £6000 aint in the right ball park! 😮 Leaving an old lady like this sitting outside for a winter should be against the law!!! she got blown around so much it broke a lift strut 😮 and thats without the indoor swiming pool 🙁
Apparently the owner is emergraiting to Auz, hence the confusion that she had left the country 😉
Anyone know which Beech 18 that is, painted maroon?
That’ll be Naval Encounter with its trendy covers on! 😉
Yoy can see JRB plus onother in the background of this shot of the BE2 talken at Sywell in Feb 1969.
Certainly no longer owned by the RB flying Group as that no longer exsists. She was sold after spending quite a long time outside and she was not in the best of health. A little bird recently told me that she had retired to sunnyer climes, namely the southern hemisphere.
I remember seeing the lady flying the Cub, Maule and Harvard at North Weald. Believe things went quiet after the death of Mr Perry and the problems with the wing spar of the Invader. Believe she is now living in Florida and owns a pink Stearman!
Martin
Indeed she does own a pink Stearman, it was done for her ar Rendcomb. She also owns a Super Decathalon based at White Waltham.
Looks like a Moth Minor to me.
For those of you that are interested the Wassmer WA41 behind the Supermunk reg is G-AVHJ 😉
Very nice, though I’m a bit concerned as to how he got that ding in the tank!
ADrian
A Butt cheek whilst refueling 😀 They are very thin tin and it dont take much, even a heavy hand leave an impression but the favorite is sitting on it when filling the tank!! 😉
W Waltham Central  Central to where? Sywell would be ideal as it is fairly central and all grass is useable, plus new Pilots Mess opening soon. Also GASML when we nxt speak i know of a chap at Sywell who wants to organise a Flyin for this type of A/C.
Those folks who live in the State of Ohio would be surprised to find out they also live within the State of Indiana I’ll bet! Just kiddin’ RobAnt, Ohio and Indiana are both States all their own.
😮
According to GINFO G-AYTT permit expires 01-09-06, so she is still flying 🙂
As with the Sea Fury, Spencers G-Spit was awsome as well. Have seen it once. This at rotterdam in 1985. Made just one photo of it and have been surching for more over the years any one with photo’s of G-SPIT?
Herman
G-SPIT???? Dont you mean G-FIRE
Sounds like a brilliant idea. As to the cleanest pilot award, I’m not so sure, as when I go Chippy (Chippie) flying, I have a terrible habit of standing on the seat first and then finding later in the day I have a dirty backside. I just cant figure out why? 🙂
Best wishes,
Martin
Jannie, we have never met as yet. But if you come to Sywell we will have cloths at the ready for any dirty backsides :diablo: We wil have a orderly que formed 😉
I for one will be happy for the commitee to agree to this, im sure that once they hear the full story they will all be in agreement. If the forum would like to present it them all the better!
