Come down somtime and we can show you whats about, usualy somthing lurking in the hangars worth a look! Think Texan Tomcat was sorting out the FOSA forms, if not PM me with your address and we will get one to you.
Nice, interesting to see what goes on at our average aerodrome. Is that the only Tiger Moth there? Love Tiger Moths, looks quite nice in grey!
Nope, thats one of Delta Aviation’s A/C of which they have 4 at the moment and there is usualy two here at any one time, plus two other private machines
based here permanently.
GASML,
Its not a replica its an original that came from a barn somewhere in Maine I’m not sure the whole history. They are trying to get some insurance for it so they can fly it.
If their is anything you would like me to get more photos of let me know I’m going back up in a few weeks to bring the Moth up for the Winter.
Cheers

EEMM, might be an original somthing but it dosent look much like an original Demoisell to me?!!
I dont think anyone will doubt the fact that it will be a beutifull example of a P51 and a beutifull example of Mr H’s fantastic work and be great to see it in the air. I think the problem is when you try to say that it is a particular A/C with combat history that was shot down in combat. It may well contain bits of said A/C but it clearly is not that A/C. I rearly dont see the point in trying to do it! It will be a fantastic aeroplane in its own right and be great to see another P51 gracing the skies, be thankfull there are people like Mr H who is prepared to spend his time and hard earned cash on such projects, as for the rest of the crap bandied about on here, who gives a f***!!!! as long as another beautifull A/C takes to the air.
Greta pics, thanks for posting. As GASML said, somwhere else to go visit!
By the way GASML, did you notice the 4 bladder on the antoinette? on a continental A65 by the looks of it!
As for you TT, that the last time i let you look in the cockpit of the T6, talken me all week to get the stains off the seat!!!!
The title of the Cagney Air film was “Captain of the Clouds”
Was’nt that then remade by speiberg as “Always”?
Think its a proctor matey – from memory there is a ‘wartime’ helicopter in it too – a widgeon i think…or was that the eye of the needle…anyway deffo a proctor!
Widgeon was in “eye of the needle”
Peter Jackson at some time has promised to do a WW1 aviation film…an easy project for him since he owns many ww1 planes! That would be worth a look.
M
There are very strong rumors out there that PJ is planning a WW1 film, it is however also rumored that it will be a remake of an old classic such as “Blue Max” or “Hells Angells”. Not so much due to a lack of new idea’s but a lack of investors willing to put money up for unknown and higer risk projects. It will be intersting to see how “Flyboys” does at the box office, you have to remember that the money men will catter for the 99% of the general film going public and not the 1% of aviation enthusiasts!
Nice pics, thanks for posting. Nice to see PVT, she became one of the Barnstormers Flying Circus A/C. Was sadly lost in a mid Air at Notingham in the early seventies.
I seem to remember reading somwhere that the cause was put dowm to static ! So that means that there are two Rolls Royce Eagles sitting in Hendon with very little time on them!!!!
Loverly to see the pics, what were the engines used on this rep?
Great pics, good to see some light stuff. Must dig some out and scan them in!
Interesting thoughts.
Yes I know who flys it….BTW
We don’t wear head protection in Cessna’s, Chipmunks, Moths, RV’s or privately operated Warbirds as a rule. Come on, its hardly a major safety issue on a one off basis.
An analysis of how many avgas powered fatal air accidents would have been survivable with a helmet worn would have to be conducted to demonstrate your point of safety.
We could always not fly, thats safe isn’t it?
Though, getting away from the point abit.
Yes we could always go to East Kirby, but what is so wrong about seeing a Lancaster take to the air with all the representative equipment, including the correct clothing on board?
Who is this “we” dont wear head protection, i do and have done since one saved my life in a Tiger Moth! i wear one in a Moth, in a Chipmunk, in a Stearman, in a Harvard, in fact in anything i fly. And so do many if not most of my friends who fly that type of aircraft. many time’s i have been chastised by people who tell me “it dosent look right!” i dont care, its my head and its the only one im gona get!! i have also lost two friends in accidents who would probably still be here if they had been wearing one!
Well done all, magnificent machine. Looking fwd to seeing it at Woburn on Sunday.
Much appreciated, thanks
