    Very nice Neil,

Do you know if the RACo have acquired the Neiuport, great to see a Nipper again, haven’t seen one of these for years.

    Septic.

Its Kermit Weeks Neiup, it went sick with a cracked cyl head durring filming, will be dismantled and packed at brieghton prior to its return to fantasy of Flight

Just remember chaps that this is about what you HAVE found, not what rumours you hve heard. Rumours are fun but publicising them can screw up deals and cause all sorts of nastiness. I have heard some great rumours but mentioning some of them could get the stuff scrapped!

I did find a copy of the “Red Air Fighter” that used to belong to Robert Lorraine, a WW1 pilot and pre-WW1 flyer as well as noted actor. A friend bought an aviation textbook in Southampton only to find that the original owner had written his name in, someone called “Bert Hinkler”?!

Don’t buy bits of historic aeroplanes. Bought a whole one instead!

And it cost me less to acquire than some of you pay for cameras!

Melve, if your refering to the Gamecock, parts of it are alive and well and i found them still in the barn where i remember seeing it as a very small boy!!! There still there under lock and key untill such time as we have enough information to satisfiy the powers at be that we can start a rebuild. But it wont be ready for Le ends next year!

Can anyone video capture the crazy Grumman Duck flying filmed for ‘Murphys War’? IIRC correctly the aircraft actually takes off branches while being filmed from the camera ship.

Would like to know who the pilot was…

    Frank Tallman i belive!

Ooh, forgot about the Tiger Moth “Jenny” that was pancaked into a pond for “The Great Waldo Pepper”!

Certainly a Tiger “Jenny” was crashed in “Waldo Pepper” but not this one. This was one of two that was flown out to Spain from Sywell in the late sixties, they were modified in Spain for the filming and then returned back to tiger form before they returned to Sywell. G-AHRC unfortunately crashed into the Irish sea in 1972, the second Tger is currently being rebuilt.

Thats the one, it used to be known as “the rubber pfalz!” because the wooden fuselage flexed so much in flight.
Here is a pic of G-AHRC dressed up to look like a Curtis Jenny for “Villa Rides”
Plus one of the BE2, because i can!

As Damien has said it beggars belief that some people can snipe at the way this incident was handled, anyone who has seen a fabric aeroplane burn will know that it takes a very short time for major damage and indeed total lass to accure, and i mean seconds not minutes! I would say, from the pictures as i was not there, that this was delt with extreemly efficiently. A times like this the safe evacuation of the passengers must be the first priority, saving the Aircraft the second. In this instence is woul appear that both were carried out in the best possible way.
For those suggesting that engine bay fire bottles be fitted, please pray tell me how that would have helped put out a wing fire cause by an exhaust flame on start up?!!!!!

For sale: My house, someone else’s house, my wife, my dog, everything I own, the shirt off my back, anything else I can think of to sell…….darn I still can’t afford to make a big enough offer for that gorgeous Demon.

    Sigh….

The BE2 is very upset that you even consider replacing her with another!!!!!
Have to agree though, that Demon is beutifull, must get on with that Gamecock!!
