Only thing I can say is…………
Good for you old chap.
Lovely bit of sport.
im sure all of us would have done the same but I dont think the “Loverly bit of sport” is called for do you!! ?
But that is the whole point, with a reliable and practicle engine there is no reason that it cannot be flown away from home base and seen by a wider audience. For sure there is nothing like the sight and sound o fan original rotary engine flying by but by their very nature they are difficult to opperate and do not make for a practicle flying machine. For the most part the general viewing public wont know the difference but at leat they will now be aware of WW1 aviation. There is room for both and of course not all WW1 A/C had rotaries anyway!! Not every one has the luxury of having an original engine available to them or can afford to obtain one. I would love to construct an SE5 or a Foker DVII but the engine is an issue and niether of those had rotaries, if anyone has a Hispano, BMW or Meccedes they would like to donate 😀
As always there are those that scoff at anything other than 100% original replica’s, can we see the progress of your replica’s please????
Looks like it is making exellent progress and I look fwd to seeing more progress and the project completed 🙂

Further to GrahamSimons’ post, Brooklands at Sywell also operated a couple of Austers in the house colour scheme. I have just found a photo in which two are visible, taken at a Northamptonshire ATC parade at Sywell in, I think, 1959. One of them is J-1 G-AMTM, which I had the pleasure to fly in 1960.
Brooklands opperated more than a couple of Austers, they had a fleet of then:D

The basic answer is that it will fly when it and the owners are ready.

Brave men one and all, what a great thing to do to go up to the Derwent.
Least We Forget, we thank you and raise a glass to you tonight.

I spoke with Janice recently and was told all is well with the Fury and that it will fly when the correct weather permits. No issues with paperwork or anything else. It will fly when they are ready to do so, indeed I am hoping, by invitation, to be there when it does 🙂

Did you see the Nieuport 28 in the air? The Bristol Fighter? I’m happy to say I saw both. 🙂
And so did I, and other A/C they have rebuilt we are still enjoying, including 2 Nimrods. And if they hadnt bothered you would not have had the chance of seeing the N28 or the Bristol Fighter in formation with 2 others!
