£14K tops, even i good condition im affraid. The poor old Auster is not very sort after and therefore does not comand a high price. That Auster III maybe up for £25K but i doubt very much if it will sell for that, it will cost far more to restore than it will be worth im affraid:(
Blue Max/ Skybolt et al.
I remember in the seventies there was an ITV children’s show called ‘Clapperboard’ hosted by a bloke called Chris Kelly.
It was basically a magazine about film, film making and the cinema.
I’m sure there was programme in that series about aviation and film making and the stunt quoted above was explained, as was the way the undercarriage on the Tiger was made to collapse.
B/M, I know you keep a track of these things–do you remember it?
Cheers
Andy
Yes Andy i remember that program:) it had Derrek Piggot on it talking about flying for films. He talked about the Villa Rides crash and flying under the bridge in the Blue Max in particular. It also covered flying for Magnificent Men.:D
Happy birthday:D
Here is one of Dad getting ready for a flight in RC, possibly also at Tollerton?
Barry, is that you in HRC at Tollerton?? seem to recall you had at done dome like that 🙂
I think I took this shot at Tollerton on 16 May 1971.
Maybe it’s time for a “Barnstormers Photo Thread” 🙂
Fantastic pic GORDY, and a great idea on the picture thread, 🙂 Willip i will PM you on the VPJ pic;)

Willip26, wow! do you have anymore of HRC??
My father purchased her from Bill and sadly as barry has said she now resides at the bottom of the irish sea, Im sure Barry can relate that story better than i but she was returning from a display in Ireland in 1972, 2 years after Dad had been killed, I remember Mum saying it was as if she didnt want to come home with out him:(
Images of her are allways good to see, i sometimes wonder if one day she will surface in a fishermans net, i still have the log books and, arh well we can but dream;)
Sad news:( Another great name in the presevation world gone:(
Project not activly being worked on at the moment but lots of paddeling going on under the surface, major pieces of the jigsaw keeping slotting into place and slowly but surely we hope to tick all the boxes to make the whole thing viable, as has been said, watch this space;)
GANLW Westland Widgeon is no longer at Sywell and has not been for many years, i belive it is now with the helicopter museum at Weston Supermare;)
That looks quite delightfull Geoff, did you have drawings and if so are they readly available??
Maybe it was because they had booked the Vulcan, so it was a very short airshow:diablo:
Sits back and waits for the rocks to be thrown:eek:
Looks fantastic, never heard of the film though and neither has IMDB – anyone know anything of ‘American knight’?
American Knight was i belive the working title of what became “Flyboys”;)
