Happy Birthday, got overshadowed by somthing going high and fast!!!!:D
The last Avro Triplane shot is bl**dy fantastic!! still carnt help but to think of Brian every time i see a Hurricane:(
All we saw was SAND!!!!!:diablo:
Many happy returns Bod!!
Embarrassing photo as threatened!! :diablo:
Thanks all, i think TT might get you for that one:D By the way TT, i know where you live:diablo:
That’ll be a short airshow then :-
“Ladies and Gentlemen from your left the Vulcan will do one pass”
Woosh
“Well there you go folks, along with budget, have a nice day and thank you for your support”.
My thoughts exactly, anyway we dont have any jets!!!! Suppose they could tow it to hight and do an engine off flypast, be cheeper that was to:D
How about a Belgian flying visit (with D-VII too) to the 2008 Sywell Airshow 😎
Now thats a great idea, you would be more than welcomb if you could bring some of your WW1 A/C over??:)
Sadly grass Airfield, torrential rain all morning, vehicles driving accross said grass equates to mud, and lots of it!!!!! The jobs worth you talk about were people doing what they had been asked to do, and given up there time for free. unfortunately opening gates willy nilly not only lets you in but a flood of people who constantly try and get in for nothing!!! This has happend on both the last two Airshows and as a result no profit was made on either of them, in fact a large loss was:( We are lucky that Sywell Aerodrome have agreeed to hold the show again, they bank roll the event and the last two years have given a donation to the Air Ambulance out of there own pocket. As a result access was restricted, and the gate you mentioned was foe emergency services access should there be an incident.
Im sorry if you had problems last time but i can assure you as the organisers who had invested months of our own time in putting on the event, to, A, watch the rain P down all morning, and then, B, have people doing all they can to get in for F**K all, your car getting muddy was the least of our worries 😡
Again i am sorry you had problems and we like to see the car clubs at the event and look fwd to seeing you there next year if you wish to come, hopefully the weather gods will be a little kinda to us next year, rant over:)
Ear defenders? 😮
With all those lovely noises and barely a shrieking jet among them?Shame on you!! :diablo:
More anniversaries in 2008 of course.
90 years of the RAF. 90 years since the Armistice.
And 70 years since Alex Henshaw in the Mew Gull won the last pre-war Kings Cup air race. A 1930s air race reconstruction anyone? Count me in (slowly) with the Tipsy!!
And the 80th anniversary of the first Aerial Pagent at Sywell in 1928, you will all have to keep your eyes on the Airshow Website for details but some tasty morsles planned 😉
How about that bloke on a bicycle with a rocket tied to his back.
He seemed to disappear at the vital moment last year TT…..???? :diablo:
More seriously, having just seen the thread with the Antwerp Nieuport. How about inviting the Belgian contingent???
Or Michael Carlsson with the Bleriot???
A Vulcan flyby has been suggested elsewhere. Might be nice, but it might wake some of the worthy burgers of the nearby villages 😀
and as it has all ready bee pointed out to me it is the Centenary of the first powered flight in the UK i think the man on the bike is back in the frame:D
Be good to see it airborn again, i last saw that fly out in Ireland, my father flew it alot for the many films made at the time:)
Fantastic!!:) well done all. tell me, is the DVII airworthy??
All the Best, hope you had, or are having or going to have a good day:D My these time zone’s are tricky:confused:
As this is a German Aeroplane then surley it is governerd by EASA and not the CAA:confused: Has the German example been fully certified yet or is it still in the prototype stage and still going through flight testing?? and flying on a test permit. This is not a resored A/C dont forget, this is a new built new type!!!! Therefore it has to go through all the rigures of certification of any new type. If it has been fully certified by EASA, i suspect it hasnt yet, then under the new rules it should be able to fly in the UK.
I for one look fwd to seeing it in the air, this will hopefully happen when the weight of the paper work matches or exeeds that of the A/C:)
Very nicely done indeed, brought a tear to my eye:( blue Skies Brian
Didnt know Dick that well but knew of his work, met him a couple of times at Bicester and it was always a delight:) What a week it has been, what desperately sad times:( RIP Dick, blue skies
