Well done once again Ben and co.
Have always had a soft spot for the Chippie. Was the first aircraft type I ever flew in, and the first of many I threw up in as well. 😉
Take no notice to those mocking you. I bet when no ones around they also sit in the aircraft pretending to be flying and shooting down the enemy.
Only difference is you were daft enough to get caught. :p
NEVER!! We’ve got a BE2 to do that in!!!:D
DC3 or C47, my point was that if you check the first post it says “DC6 N1944A from Kemble”;)
Great pics of what looked like a great little event on a fantastic and little known about airfield. And im sure you ment DC3;)
i guess yout gona see a B17, B25, P51, A26 etc then:rolleyes:
Very sad news indeed:( not been a good time for P51,s lately, as has been said that picture tells a thousand words:( Condolences to all involved, our thoughts and prayers are with you all:(
About six years ago there was a man in Leicester that used to “repair” legs for the J1, if you could provide the axle. Unfourtunately his name has now ended in my File 13:( If you find him again, and need axles, drop me a line, I might have one or two.
We got our J1 legs of e-bay some years ago, so a close watch on there might get you something, but it will cost an arm and a leg. These things are very few and far between now.
To continue with some wish lists. Does anyone know the whereabouts of a belly tank for the J1??
Try Ron Neal at Leicester Airfield, prob the same man who repaired the legs, also Carl tyres at Spanhoe may be of use.
Try leicester museum, they can supply Auster drawings.:)

[QUOTE=low’n’slow;1142013]But if we can get a Vulcan to fly…it can’t be that impossible! QUOTE]
We havent yet:diablo:
That looks like a pretty realistic replica to me 😀 😀 Bex
Well i think the collar i totaly the wrong shade of brown to be completey acurate:D
Seems the strange co-incidental circumstances of Hawthorn’s life have continued with his aircraft, barely surviving more than a year after he did.:( .
Not the only time that has happened i can assure you. My father was killed in 1970 flying for a film in Ireland, in 1972 about 18 months later his Tiger Moth G-AHRC ended up in the Irish Sea when returning from an Airdisplay in Ireland. Almost like it didnt want to come home without him:(
Congratulations!!!!
Shall we start a rumour that TT’s buying a celebratory round of drinks in The Aviator? :diablo:
That was last night, hic!:diablo:
Well done guys, must have been the pill box that done it!!
Or TT with his machine gun again!!!!:D
Well done guys, congratulations, well deserved:)
Its the raffle bit that get me, why a raffle??? answer to get even more cash out of the enthusiastic people who are desperate to see her fly. If the numbers are to be limited then thats fine, so tell people that there is a limited amount of tickets available at X price and tell them when they are available, first come first seved, easy. Or as the Red Bull Air Races did, invite people to enter a draw for tickets and those that are lucky enough to be picked get to buy a ticket.
The way they are doing it means that lots of people are paying £25 to enter a Raffle they aint gona win!! just another donation scam wraped up in a differnt package. sorry i would love to she her fly but this whole episode leaves a very bad taste in one’s mouth:mad:
Do my eye’s decieve me or has SUSY got a new name on the nose:confused:
Latest posts on the Aerodrome forum suggest that although Fred is still critical it is hoped he will make a full recovery, he has several broken ribs and a punctured lung and some cuts and bruises. Intitial report from a friend who was flying with him suggests some kind of engine failure! A/C is apparently back in the hangar and badly damaged but at the end of the day that can be rebuilt, all thoughts with Fred and his family and wishing him a speedy recovery.
