Got mine through him as well.
40D is out here in the shops already
Is it? Sheesh… goes to show how easy it is to lose touch with this stuff 🙂 In any case, if airshow photography is your main goal, definitely wait till a few weeks before the first airshow of 2008, so you have the optimum in choice and price.
I am happy with my 400D for now. It’s a big improvement over the 300D, which served me well too until it died. I particularly like the sensor cleaning feature and the bigger buffer allowing for more continous shooting.
Haha, that 747 pic is brilliant. Looks decidedly unhealthy!
Love the overwater shots.
Don’t forget Duxford today!
I got the same birthday prezzie a year and a half ago, and had to wait 2 months before the airshow season started.
Keep your 300D for now, I’d say. Served me fine. I only got a 400D when my 300 died on me. Next year there may be a new model (40D) so why buy the last model now and have it stored in a closet over winter?
Thanks TT. The image is a bit outdated now though and could have been done a lot better knowing what I know now about 3D art 🙂 All part of the neverending learning curve…
TT, indeed I did: http://home.wanadoo.nl/r.j.o/skyraider/ca-15_1.htm
This was a what-if scenario for the bookcover of a book by John Baxter.
Ozhawk, I’ve not seen that book you mention, so it can’t be that. I guess it was a website or something. I must have happened upon it when I made the CA-15 3D model early in 2003.
DOH! There’s me thinking I missed another one, but this post is actualy ANCIENT! 😀
Thanks for your reply, Mark. Looks like I am chasing ghosts and indeed such trials didn’t happen (unfortunately). Sometime long ago I must have read somewhere a comparisson between the P-51D and CA-15 and somehow in my memory that must have started leading a life of its own! 😀
Anyone?
Thanks for bumping this thread and the heads-up on the exhibition!
Such a shame that 90 years Dutch Naval Air Service will be without the P-3 Orions… 🙁
Awesome new colours!
If it ain’t Dutch it ain’t much! :dev2:
Beautiful skin!
Had any luck yet with the code letter?
Music to my ears, David – especially the “original colors” bit! 🙂
Thanks Martin, I did find that post. Bit sketchy though and some of the photos are gone unfortunately.
I’ve talked to Rob Mears, one of our resident Corsair experts, about this machine and he too is a bit puzzled to what happened to it and where it could be now.
Incidentally I made a similar post on WIX: http://warbirdinformationexchange.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=12415
I’ve got an awesome pic of the ex-breighton buchon at about 8 inches from the runway. If I remember to post it, I will
I believe it’s somewhere amongst these pages already 🙂
