Forgive me if I posted it already on one of the previous pages, but here’s a photo of a Macchi 200 buzzing Taranto. It sadly proved that these kind of stunts aren’t without danger as the pilot hit a member of the ground crew and more or less decapitated him. If I remember correctly, the pilot hadn’t noticed a thing and after landing was confronted with a dent in his wing’s leading edge, containing skull fragments… π

Yes, I believe that’s the one.
On water, with a landplane – possibly. π
Then on land with a waterplane counts too! π
But I reckon not touching is the trick π
On a similar note, has anybody got some better pictures of Romanian aerobatics pilot and ace Constantin “BΓ’zu” Cantacuzino?

I have applied this technique to your Dove image.
You can partly desaturate certain colour channels again (such as yellow in this case!) to maintain a realistic feel.
Have a look:
There are many more ways to add colour to a photo, really. But this is the easiest one.
However what’s not in a picture you can’t get out of it. In this case, the picture will remain rather dull. Boosting the colours too much will make it look unrealistic.
Here’s a slightly more elaborate way for example, which will give really vibrant if not somewhat unrealistic colours:
* open image π
* decrease contrast by 50%
* fade to Luminosity
* press ctrl-alt-shift-L (auto contrast)
If you want to keep your old contrast/exposure “feel”, simply copy this image, reset all changes, paste it on top of the original and set blending model to Colour.
Done! Try it! π
If you have photoshop, boost the saturation with 40 and you’re practically there π
I got 2x 3 frames (two fly pasts). The sharpest one is also the worst in composition! The Hurri cockpit is hidden behind the Hind rudder and the Hurri rudder is cut outside the frame. DOH! π
Worth the wait! Backs up my theory that the Hurricane came into existence when a Hind’s top wing broke in two and fell down on top of the bottom wing during final assembly.
Judging by the Hurri’s wing’s thickness, they actually glued both Hind wings together π
Nice shot indeed. I screwed up mine a bit…

I should remember to use a faster shutterspeed on formation flights (and smaller aperture too). You can never track them both as they move at different speeds relative to the cam… So often one is OK and the other is blurry. Now they’re both a bit… “soft focus” π Yours came out much better π
Good capture of the Spit, Ian! The Anson looks lovely too!
PS. No such thing as dull pics at Old Warden! Always some beauty shots to be made π
Pretty solid show I’d say! Dammm that Victor is coooool π
Lovely shots. Particularly like the Buccaneer π
Nice close-ups!
Bent props are cool π I’ve tried to write a plugin for the 3D software I’m using for my artwork, to accurately simulate that effect. Not easy π
Nice shots, Snaps, though a little small…
Aw man, you had the best seat in da house! Excellent!
Holy Moley! Those are great! What a fantastic backdrop. When’s the next show? I feel another visit to France coming up π
By the way, I went to France ecery summer for five weeks as a kid. The Ardèche area is one of the prettiest (and hottest).
I just had a look on your website – absolutely fantastic stuff. I especially like the Noratlas take off shot, and the few “artsy” close-ups (Alpha Jet, Dakota). What equipment do you use?
One picky point though about the arrangement… the T-28 is a trainer and the F4U-7 Corsair is an attack aircraft π
