A very interesting little aircraft you have!
I may have some more, but here’s one already.
If you PM me your e-mail address I’ll send you the full-resolution images (3072×2048 pixel JPG) 🙂

Thanks 🙂 Glad you like em!
Thanks very much guys! As promised, MORE!

Again, many more can be found here: http://skyraider3d.military-meshes.com/skyraider/photos/old_warden/
These last few shots were taken with a shutterspeed of 1/40th or 1/50th of a second. Very hard to get them sharp, but worth it for the few that do come out well.
Be sure I’ll come and say hello again next show 🙂
JDK, glad I could surprise you with something “fresh”. Next time I hope to take a tripod with me and get much much crisper results.
OK, show’s over guys!

:D:D:D
I forgot to say, many more pics can be found here:

I don’t remember where I saw it – quite possibly on this forum – but here’s a nice F-86 take-off…

Fixed gear planes are plane cheats when it comes to low flying 😉
Has anyone got pictures of Belgian Fouga Magisters flying inverted over the runway, VERY low?
Hey Johan! Good to see you here too. You should start a thread and post some of your stuff – especially the carrier visit 🙂
Very nice set of pics. What equipment do you use?
I can’t agree with you Curlyboy. I use the EOS 300D and it focusses fine, but it depends on the lens. My Canon 75-300 for example is rather quickly “satisfied” with the focussing and does a bit of a sloppy job now and then. Slow or fast, doesn’t matter.
The EOS 300D/350D doesn’t have a good servo autofocus though, if that’s what you mean. It only works in the Sport setting, which I find useless for photographing aircraft, and that one indeed isn’t fast enough. This is a known Canon-specific problem which has existed for over ten years already. Pity they can’t (won’t?) sort it out.
PS. There is a hack where you can enable servo autofocus even in other camera settings. It involves sticking a microphone jack into the camera. Haven’t tried it myself…
Thanks James!
Wondered myself about the stringbags… Always enjoyed seeing those 🙂 My guess is the RNHS rotate their aircraft and both Swordfish are now under maintenance…
OMG, a flying Fury! That’s awesome.
The trio of Jugs are fantastic as well – especially the bare-metal pair, as is the 109.
One big advice on your pictures, though: Use a longer shutterspeed. All your propellers appear frozen and this takes the motion out of prop planes. Never go above 1/400th of a second. You’ll find the “failure rate” of your pictures will double or triple, but the pictures that do work out well are definitely worth it!
I personally shoot anywhere between 1/100th and 1/350th of a second, but 1/400th is just about acceptable too.
Practise with longer shutterspeeds and increase the time when you get more comfortable with them. I’ve seen airshow pictures taken at 1/30th of a second and they are absolutely fabulous. I haven’t managed myself yet though and find 1/100th already more than a challenge to keep in focus!
Nice pics.
I’ve been trying to see the SeaHawk for a very long time now, but it always seems to evade me somehow. Does anybody know where it will perform this year?
do what I did after after years of this sort of stuff, never bother to attend again.
I now only go to Old Warden
That makes two of us!
…although I do occasionally attend other airshows for variety’s sake 😉

Can we make Nikon versus Canon arguments a banning offence please…?
As long as we agree that the grain on the D70 is appaling compared to the silky smooth Canon ISO-100! 😉
Not to mention the way Nikon deals with moiré effects… yuk! 😀
