I thought yesterday’s show was pretty smooth and high-pace. I like it the way it is, either way ๐
Nice pics!
If you like Old Warden now, wait till you’ve visited an evening show. I guarantee you, you’ll love it!!! ๐
Cool! We have a photography forum now! ๐
Thanks for the comments, guys!
Yes, the semi-scale replica Storch got me fooled for a moment! It’s a really nice machine with great agility at no speed whatsoever. I think I want one too ๐
[edit]
Yikes! Only $17,500 for the kit. And that’s Aussie dollars too, I believe! I think I suddenly found a goal in life! ๐

Quite nice! You should do a nice render with it (and yes… change the colours to something slightly more authentic ;))
LOL ๐
I guess a better view from the nose could have been the reason? Centre-of-gravity reasons more like it. Or perhaps he thought “it looked cool” ๐
But it’s effectively a flying wing, which indeed is quite novel!
Thanks guys!
Good to see you here too, Evลพen!
James, the backgrounds are shot with a 6 MP digital SLR from an airliner. I think this one was taken from a Malev Airbus, flying from Hungary to England ๐
I always take a camera with me when flying somewhere.
Hehe, not necessarily, given the fact swept wings are intended for high speed ๐
Here is a new render of this silver beauty ๐
I hope you like it!

Thanks guys ๐
Chad, impressive model. Send me a PM with your e-mail addy and I’ll forward you the drawings.
Rob, you here? What a coincidence! ๐
What’s “Wix” by the way? ๐ฎ
As promised, an update! I’ve started the model last weekend after finally deciding on the best set of blueprints:

It’s the intention to make a whole series of these, most likely including the F4U-1 “birdcage”, F4U-1A, F4U-1D/FG-1D (shown), F4U-4, F4U-5, F4U-7, Royal Navy Corsairs (with clipped wings) and possibly more…
Finding an accurate set of blueprints was a big challenge (I have compared over a dozen) and I believe these, drawn by Rikyu Watanabe, are the best. And for once, all different views match up too! Believe it or not, this is extremely rare! ๐
Not saying they’re fake, but I find the sideview pics very dodgy, having no motion blur on the background. Some of the others look quit genuine, although the high-res images aren’t too convincing (weird noise – looks edited). If they’re fakes, they’re pretty clever ones, as the lighting and shadows are very accurate ๐
Just to think what we could have done with Spitfires.
Funnily enough, Finnish pilots regarded the Spitfire (Mk.V) as flown by the Russians an inferior fighter at lower altitudes:

The Luftwaffe always wanted multi-role aircraft. I believe the see-through floor was intended to aid dive bombing (similar to the brewster Buffalo).
Nice find GeeDee. I bumped into a compilation of those movies a few days ago but it was too big to post (180mb). Awesome stuff.
