I love the PLAN officers uniforms. Simple, nothing over dramatic. No medals.
The CCP really take “People’s Liberation Army” seriously.

Nothing! I love the world and everything in it.
Happy Love Day Everyone!
That mentions industry. It doesn’t say Japan can’t purchase offensive systems.
As it stands, it all seems to me that Japan was free of the restrictions once it formed it’s own government again and the occupying force withdrew.
I believe this whole debate started when it was asked wether Japan had the right to develope ICBM or Nukes. Paragraph 11 clearly says NO.
And paragraph 12 just says that the Allied Powers will leave Japan once conditions have been met. It never says anything about Japan’s industry having the right to re-arm itself. This is all moot since the US is still in Okinawa.
Paragraph 11 is so open ended that it does not allow Japan to ever produce weapons for itself, under any circumstances. That just tells you just how rushed this “agreement” was written.
Can’t see where it says Japan will never rearm or places any limit on when Japan can rearm. AFAIK it is their Constituition which states that they will maintain forces only enough for self defence and avoid nuclear weapons. In case you are looking for the Potsdam declaration you can find it here.
If the Japanese people feel it is neccessary for them to have nuclear weapons and/or create an offensive force the only thing that prohibits them from doing so today is their Constituition.
Just FYI.
Ummm.. actually paragraph 11 does say that:
(11) Japan shall be permitted to maintain such industries as will sustain her economy and permit the exaction of just reparations in kind, but not those which would enable her to re-arm for war . To this end, access to, as distinguished from control of, raw materials shall be permitted. Eventual Japanese, participation in world trade relations shall be permitted.
(12) The occupying forces of the Allies shall be withdrawn from Japan as soon as these objectives have been accomplished and there has been established in accordance with the freely expressed will of the Japanese people a peacefully inclined and responsible government.

The US is still in Okinawa (Which is stupid). The postdam agree was meant to neuter Japan. I’ve always thought it was one of the most seriously flawed article of law ever written. But to make the point, Japan’s pacifism was indeed forced upon them by the Allied Powers.
BTW, I am Vietnamese and I support Japan’s right to re-arm. So not all East Asians are against Japan’s re-militarization.
Question for naval experts on here. Is it a good idea to have your main gun that close to the comm deck? If a missile or some projectile were to hit the gun and artillery. Wouldn’t the huge ensuing explosion take out most of the electronics that runs the ship? (not to mention the captain and crew)
“BEEE…ATCH!”
As I said, they too look a bit funny. Besides, the Lada/Amur class does have diving planes on the coning tower.
You know, you’re right. I was checking out the old FAS drawing of it. The Lada does in deed have it, but it’s much smaller then the Yuan.
“Holes”, “Triangles”. What about the Conning Tower Fins? The Lada, the Kilos none of them have the fins on the tower.
:diablo:
The link of original website is shown too. Looking there, still 11 October 2004. 😮
Maybe without glasses these wonderfull pics of J-10 in flight do not show any engine nozzle. At least when we know, that those top-secret program does not excists officially. So no J-10 shown at Zuhai. Please do not tell the others. 😎 😎 😎
I may regret getting into this argument. But Sens, I have seen that picture of the J-11/Su-27 before. And Crobato is right. It’s been floating around long before this thread.
About the J-10 nozzle comment. I know English is not your first language. But what are you talking about? That J-10B (the twin seater) clearly shows the nozzle.
OK, I will give this f*cking sh*t one last try before I give up …
Sorry to be pulling something so far back, but thanks for the collections pic HT. At first I thought the 2-Seater J-10 was ugly, but shot from that angle, makes me horny.
I believe in Santa Claus, but I don’t believe there is a day called “Christmas”. Figure that one out.
Those are not Active Phased Array panels! The size and position indicate PPAR arrays. Simply put only an idiot would make an APAR panel that big so that they have to be installed that low in the superstucture!.
Lack of seperate illuminator systems and a PPAR search/track set does, superficially, indicate an ARH missile if it has any pretensions of handling saturation-fires.
This is all assuming that everything has to be done in the exactly way the Burke & Congo are set up.
Great pics guys. But can someone tell the Chinese goverment please do something about the polution? I can barely see any of the ships from those long distance pictures.
Just tell Wen Jiabao the request came from me. I’m sure they’ll listen.
If they want a viable deterence, they need to shell out some beaucoup moolah because they have some massive capability gaps.
Taiwan is pushing a proposal to spend over $18 Billion dollars to purchase US military equipment as we speak.
http://www.politinfo.com/articles/article_2004_07_31_3947.html
There’s the public face of US/Taiwan relationship. And then there is the behind the scenes negotiation. I’m pretty sure some form of Aegis equipped ships are coming to Taiwan. Unfortunately, Taiwan doesn’t get the protection the US affords to Japan and the ROK. I do not know how much longer Taiwan can go on spending $18 Billion.
