i hate it when ppl tell me what cant be done or how things should be done and only give the answer ‘cos’ when i ask why. so i sometimes deliberately try things that seem impossible or simply do things the ‘wrong way’ just to show them otherwise.

given myself quite alot of ‘unnecessary’ complications over the years, but when it works on those few occasions, the rewarding feeling is unparellal (well almost:D )

think the mouse reflect me well.;)

i think taiwan will go for the apachie, cos if the cobras were able to meet their needs, then they would not need to buy new attack helos 10 years after their first purchase of the cobras.

taiwan has managed to get a contract to build the tail of the apachie IIRC, so it looks like they are getting ready to push for at least partical production of the type.

“Well the J-10 is kind of lacking in the air superiority load out only using 2 BVR missiles and 2 PL-8s and the Su-27SKs/J-11s are far better for that role in the first place with their bigger missile loads, longer range and high top speeds.”

just to add, AAMs are generally lighter then PGMs, so the J10 should not need as many fuel tanks, leaving more hardpoints free for AAMs. also AAMs are generally alot lighter the PGMs, so the wings could be easily beefed up to hold a couple more hardpoints for AAMs, and we’re not considering F15 style double pylons for AAMs.

the J11/SKs will no dount also be doing AA missions. its just that at this point in time, there arent enough J11s and Su27s in the PLAAF to be able to garentee air superiority, and i think the PLAAF would rather have the j10s do AA then having to use MKKs or J8s.

also given the greater loading ability, i would expect the PLA to prefer to upgrade flankers for AG as opposed to J10s in the future.

the J10 will alomost certainly get an AG capacity, but its primary role would still most likely be AA for the forseeable future.

“It might be useful to remember that generally only the mid to high ranking officers and officials in the armed forces and the police are considered stalwarts from the authoritarian days, and thus loyals supporters of the pan-Blue camp, the vast majority of the 200,000 would be conscripts drafted or hired from the general population, and thus their vote would likely have reflected the larger bifuricated electorate. Same for the junior officers. How how many of the 200K would be of major and higher ranks?”

in an organisation such as the military, the views of the officers are very often passed onto the ‘grunts’ as the troops tend to (or rather are trained) to fully respect their superior officers, and that respect often also covers their views.

also, do remeber that the military has been teaching its troops about how china and taiwan should be united for decades now, and that teaching will count for alot even if it has been recently discontinued.
