“That would mean that all persons in Cuba shoud be tried in Afganistan and not the US, if they should be tried at all, because most of them fought a war in Afganistan and done nothing against the US.”
not really, that’s why i brought in the international court bit. most of the ppl there were there cos they fought to defend their nation, and alot of the others were just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
for those that were part of the 9/11 attacks, sure, the US can have them, but the rest should be set free.

one of the best CG’s i’ve seen so far.
by stinger.
there real thing.
i dont think so. i think terrorists should be tried and sentenced in the nation that they have (or planned) to commite their attacks.
however the line gets blurry as who decides someone is a terrorist and based on what evidence. i think the international courts would be good for that job, they look at all the intel and evidence that led to an arrest and decide if it was enough to prove that the suspect was engaged in terrorist activities. if so, they are snet to the nation that they planned to attack, if not, they are set free.

“Ok fine you want to keep the production line in China for security, but Pakistan could invest or create a production line itself in China where it could chum out J-10s at its own expense, I do not think that 30M for a j-10 is that expensive all things considered. “
good point, and if pakistan offered those terms, then i think china will probably accept. however, i think its is in pakistans interests to use the construction of a modern fighter to try to boost its economy. u cant do that by building the plant in china, where all the money invested in the project ends up boosting the chinese economy instead.
i think it is pakistan’s goal to gradually increase its share of production for the FC-1 until they can make 100% domestic versons. that would set the ground works for a fairly advanced aeronortical industry. pakistan may well need to import new designs in the mean while, but they would also be looking to licence those planes too (this should help to boost their aviation industry as licencing the J11 did for china), and eventually be able to become self sustaining in future fighter development and production.
all that is dependent on building fighters in country with ur ppl. even if china allowed it, im sure pakistan does not want to base one of its key national defence industries in another country, even one as friendly as china.
“The PAF needs a small but high quality AF and the J-10 is its only option. Besides China could even open up a base in Pakistan to supervise PAF J-10s just to make sure that the Americans do not get too close, its not like China is not construting a naval base there anyway.”
the indians are already getting restless with chinese engineers building things in pakistan, how do u think they would react if the chinese military set up a modern AFB within striking range of indian cities manned by PLAAF personal? the far right aand left would be calling it the first move in a chinese invasion of india. and might push to set up indian bases in places like mongolia and taiwan.
india is a growing power in aisa, and has potential to become much more, it is not in china’s best interest to creat an atmusphere of distrust and fear between the two (might lead to a new arms race and a second cold war). the sino-indo boarders are quiet, and thats how the ppl in beijing wants it to stay.
also, its a little different guarding planes and ships. warships are always manned, planes are not, and also, there are always more planes to guard then there are ships.
“——————————————————————————–
will there be waypoints with pre-launched capsules in position which will replenish the spaceship
——————————————————————————–
If you can get them to maintain a fixed position in space, and provide enough fuel for the main craft to stop and start again enough times, that’s a damn good idea!”
er,sorry, but stopping and starting is the last thing u would want to do in space if u want to save on fuel and supplies.
in space, there is no air friction to slow u down, if u can get to 100,000mph, then u stay on that speed until a force is excerted to slow the ship down. just look at all the deep space probes, it is the excleration that takes up all of the fuel. for a mars mission to work, the ship needs to acceralate to a very high speed as soon as possible. however, they would also need to slow down if they want to get into orbit around mars, so would need abt as such fuel to do that as it took them to get started, and double that amount to get there and home. the more stops u have alone the way, the more times fuel u would need.
“There is no known frozen water on the moon. there was some hope that in the deepest craters their might be some left from the impact of comets, but all probes have shown it to not be the case.”
u sure abt that? cos i definately remebering seeing a decumentry on discovery where some prof said that there was millions of tons of frozen water on the moon. in fact IIRC, i also heard it on the news (i think it was near the poles).
“Moon rocks are boring… they have little material that is useful. Unless the Earth suddenly runs out of gravel…”
the moon is made of all the elements the earth is made up of (iron, copper, aluminum, gold etc) and maybe some other substances now found on earth. sure, its not economical to mine them and bring them back to earth ATM, but in the future, as space activilties grows, it will become mroe and more attractive to just mine the maerticals on the moon and build the space ships and space stations in orbit. luner gravity 1/3 of earth’s, so alot cheaper to get the material off the moon then earth; no oxygen on the moon, so all natural elements should be in their purest form (no rust steel, u just dig the shinny stuff up, saves alot of energy in processing.)
—————————————————————————
“Asteroids hold far more greater potential for mining and even as a stepping stone to Mars. Asteroids have very little gravity, making it easier to dock and undock, and an asteroid can even be tunneled and hollowed out to create a secure station safe from radiation.”
problem with asteroids is that they tend to travel the galaxy in massive thousand-year round trips. unless u can stop them, then theres little chance of being able to mine them.
also, if the PAF did go for the J10, it would be very unlikely that china would allow J10s to be constructed dometically even if they allowed Af to buy them (just for security reasons), so having the FC-1 is also a good way to try and boost the economy on the side.
“I also never understood why the PAF did not go for the J-10 instead. Sure it costs about 30M but it offers some nice capability and could definitely compete with the best that India has, with the inferior FC-1, India will always have the advantage. In stead of spendingall that cash on the FC-1, they shoulod have at least invested ina produciton line of J-10s just for Pakistan. Unless of course the Chinese were unwilling to let their birds go to a country that has many an American hunting for Osama, well these Americans could suddenly have a look at China’s weapon of the future, the J-10.”
that and the fact that CAC’s factories would probably be backlogged for years with orders for the PLAAF. PAF would probably need to wait too many years before its their trun to get the birds.
“The only race the US won was to put men on the moon, which, after finding out it was barren, waterless rock with no heavy metals near the surface is about as much use as a one legged man in a butt kicking competition.”
er, it think it has been established that there is frozen water on the moon, and also several other potentially valueble substances which does not exist on earth (helium3).
there were many reasons why the US didnt exploit the moon more when they first landed, the main ones are:
– the soviets lost interest in their space programme, so there was no longer the ‘race’ elemint to push the hand of polititions and the military, who now prefered to spend the money on terrestrial weapons system to win the other big ‘races’.
– mining resources on the moon and shipping them them back to earth was no way going to be economical at the time.
now, as technolgy has progressed, it would not be as expansive to mine the moon (and as resources run out here, the prospect of mining the moon will become more and more attractive.
also if the US is serious abt its mars programmes, then it would be alot cheaper to set up a base on the moon. the shell of the ship going to mars can be construted in earth orbit, but the water on the moon can be mined to fuel and supply the ship. this should dramatically cut costs.
