Wow, so that is putting djcross on a par with paralay… reliable aviation factoids but shonky politics?

I am not asking about sunni versus shia, I am asking whether we are looking at GPS aided carpet bombing or just dozens of Hellfires fired.

Basing security leads me to the former. we can assume that the intelligence assets have been in place for months and that the targets are well known.

Looking at what has worked well in Aghanistan I would say Rockwell B1B with Sniper pod dropping GPS guided munitions. It has the added advantage that it can operate over the entire country and rapidly respond to multiple calls.

After that Super Hornet operating from whatever carrier in the region again using GPS guided munitions.

I am sorry but no one was directing them over conflict zone .They flown the route they (the pilots and Malaysian flight dispatcher office back in Amsterdam )filed and I gave you original flight plan of MH17 twice already .Read about flight plan and flight planning before posting such nonsense.
Wiki will be good start :

And by the way how is your Spanish “air traffic controller” Carlos doing ? Maybe he can teach us thing or two about air traffic?;)

Ah yes Carlos the “Spanish” air traffic controller at Boryspil airport, a curious figure considering there is no record of a Spanish citizen called Carlos working at the airport. Also only citizens of Ukrainian origin can work as an air traffic controller at that airport so one wonders what he was doing there. I assume he was working with another controller called Elvis.

I would say that if they did skip the J10 and went for the J31, something I think makes increasing sense considering how well the JF17 is performing alongside all the new F16 it would eventually lead a three type front-line fast jet force.

Block 52 F16, retire everything else but save every part that can be used to keep the newer examples flying.
JF17, preferably with the Chinese alternative power-plant (WS13?) retrofitted once that has matured. Plus the muted upgrade to an AESA radar among other avionics changes.
J31, with as much commonality as possible (engines for example) with the JF17.

Finally in parallel maybe a look at the Chinese HQ16 or HQ9 but only with technology transfer and local production.

Absolutely spot on. Pakistan cannot afford to buy much high end equipment, so it does buy small amounts of high end stuff that it pays through the nose for (or with US aid) and at least that way they take a financial hit but at least have equipment (sometimes home made even) that does the job and is in service. They then supplement this with lower end equipment.
India is certainly a very big economy, but if you start negotiating on everything and cut corners expect massive delays, sub standard equipment or no good after sales support, as they are seeing now.

On a side note, UAE “gifted” PAF 30 Mirage 5s about 10 years ago, so they have form with regards to gifting fighter jest to Pakistan

Which is something I have always liked about Pakistan defence procurement, they are very hard nosed and pragmatic when it comes to their defence procurement decisions. Ironic considering how chaotic Pakistani civilian governance is but when it comes to their military they don’t mess around and look for a good deal.

I do feel that going on various recent interviews with Pakistani Air Force high ups their procurement plans have shifted a bit. They have managed to get far more F16 then first envisaged a few years back, most recently Jordanian examples. The F16 fits easily into their infrastructure and gives plenty of bang for their buck. The Mirage III/V upgrade programs have kept that type useful far beyond what anybody would of envisaged, again through clever hard nosed decisions like buying nearly spare airframe they can get their hands on. The F7PG is a very handy type that is cheap to procure and as pointed out by Mountain a good stead to put young pilots in before they transition to something more modern. Also with its double delta wings it doesn’t have the viscous landing characteristics one associates with the Mig21.

The JF17 is proving far more satisfactory then they first envisaged and I think that is also one of the reasons why along with getting extra F16 any move to buy the J10/FC20 has been knocked into the long grass. They have their hands full inducting Block 52 F16, MLU F16 and JF17 which are all types that give a significant fillip to their modern combat capability alongside their new tankers and AEW types.

I am now of the thinking and going on recent interviews that the J10/FC20 will probably be never procured. Far more sensible to carry on inducting newer blocks of the JF17 and wait to see how the stealthy J31 works out.

Agreed Mountain but apart from the detail differences if Pakistan for example needed a new engine for one of their F7, China would be able to easily supply a brand new one out of a packing crate rapidly and will be able to do so for many years to come even if production has drawn down.

Neither did the UK for that matter, I think the issue was partially doctrinal.

    JSR
he was celerabrating J-10B induction ahead of time

Evidence please. All he has done is reported Chinese aerospace developments.

All you have done is blathered on.

plane without TVC, CFT, no carrier version

So what? Hardly unusual for many new fighters.

Presumably the Chinese also have a huge stock pie of spares for the J-7/F-7 not counting those that can be reclaimed from retiring examples of the type. The Chinese apparently had a preponderance to build up huge war stocks of spares regardless of an actual need for them. A good example is the Flugwerk FW190 replica, it uses a Chinese built ASh-82. The engines came from China brand new fresh out of a packing crate, apparently the Chinese built up a large stock regardless of actual need.

so writing book about Chinese aviation makes him expert on UKranian defence industry and its prospects.

No but it answers your silly question about why he is mainly on Chinese aviation threads. Frankly I would take a published author in the military aviation field over yourself when it comes to assessing the Ukrainian defence industry.

Please Deino write a book about the Ukrainian defence industry, it would be rather funny.

well endless supply of money can continue projects for years but at some point this unviable projects. (building C919 in Shanghai with global parts. read about cost of living and pollution) will become unaffordable. Y-20 is another failed project in making. there are countless in helicopters. L-15 extremely slow production rate after 9 years in flight tests with imported engine.

Well I like toasted Cheese sandwiches with a splash of Worcestershire Sauce, that is pretty much as relevant as what you just written there. That those projects are not viable is your OPINION, your OPINION is not FACT. None of those projects you mention are failed as of yet because they are currently still in development and haven’t been cancelled. Maybe some will be in the future and then we can call them a failed project, but until then all you are doing is expressing you opinion.

I spent much of the last week at Farnborough, only to have my schedule disrupted by the MH17 shoot-down which gave me a new set of priorities. When I finally got some time off from dealing with the realities of the sudden deaths of close to 300 people, it was a bit of a shock to come back to this forum and find, in the words of kev 99 in posting #192 “The conspiracy theorist tinfoil nutters are out in force again”.

It is a possible hypothesis, as was explained on the BBC’s Newsnight programme on Thursday night.

Because sadly they are with all their usual cr@p, false flag theories and paranoid ramblings.

Who do you think you are to tell me what can i believe and what can i not believe?! I know exactly what i believe and i will write it down until stopped from doing so. If you don’t like what my opinions are, why don’t you use the ignore button and spare both of us the trouble huh? I use it aplenty on here, including on your account from now.

You can believe what you want but when it is disgusting in its offensiveness it needs to be pointed out.

Another paranoid conspiracy nut, as if the world hasn’t got enough of them.

    Ahhhh it never gets tired!

your always present to Chinese related thread

Well he does write books about Chinese military aviation so I would guess that it is going to be a focus of his interest isn’t it, you can buy his book and maybe learn something:

your opinions are way optimistic even for failed projects like ARJ-21/C919/L-15. or copied/license help projects like J-10/J-11/J-16 etc. there are countless examples.

Oh no not that old nugget again, please buy a new record! A failed project is one that was started and then ended with nothing to show for it at the end. The ARJ-21 is still development, delayed certainly but not cancelled. The C919 is also delayed but again not cancelled. The L-15, well I haven’t heard of any significant issues and it has its first domestic and international orders.
