The horizon is looking a horrible black/brown colour from here (about 30 miles away).
Can see it hear to! ๐ฎ
A very black sky if you look towards London – looks like a big thunderstorm is brewing up!
Seems very lucky that no one was killed.

Well done to all at HHA.
It must be very satisfying after all the work that’s been put in. ๐

FlyAway,
Lovely shots of the ‘Master’ & The ‘Boss’.
I was only thinking earlier this year about how nice it would be if these two great aviators could do a duo routine in their favourite Warbirds for the coming season. ๐
Still, it was good that they did get to fly together earlier this year at the Goodwood Festival Of Speed. Imagine my surprise when, on the Friday afternoon of the event, I hear the distinct sound of two piston engined WWII fighters overhead. As I look up into the overcast and storm threatening sky, I see a Mustang and a Corsair at about 2000ft heading towards Goodwood. I switched on the air band and low and behold, it’s the ‘Master’ & the ‘Boss’.

Just wanted to share a short video clip from FL’03, showing the OFMC/Breitling Fighters with Ray Hanna leading in the P-40.
Many thanks for that Wingnut.
FL03 was my first airshow for many years and the first time I’d seen the BF’s ‘live’.
And what a sight they were!

Being their final season, I of course regretted that I hadn’t seen them ‘live’ more often but, in some ways, it made it more special.
Thanks Ray. ๐
I really must get around to transfering footage my dad shot at the 1984 GWAD at West Malling which featured a nice sequence with Ray in OFMC’s first P40 & Mark in 434.

I noticed this too.
However, I tried .co.uk instead of com and it worked fine:

I really can’t believe this is true.
He seemed like he had many more years ahead of him – the kind of person who seemed like he might have gone on forever.
What a shame. ๐
As has been said many a time, a true legend of aviation. ๐
He will be sorely missed.

Great news Melvyn. ๐

Graeme,
Thanks for that.
Looks very nice indeed! ๐
Rlangham, I should imagine if it has a Hamilton Standard prop fitted, then it will have the same spinner as the HAC machine (G-HURI), or the type fitted to the Breighton example (G-HURR).

Don’t think they’d go in a MKII Spit as the Merlin 25 was a single stage two speed model!
Seems a bit of a low starting bid for a pair of inhibted, unused Merlins to me.
Maybe some of our experts might like to comment!

Jeepman,
Yes, it is indeed PL983, which crashed at Rouen, June 2001.

WIX forum has an embargo on this until next of kin informed – monday us time, suggest we do the same?
Yes, I saw that too.
Whilst it might seem a bit OTT, I guess the problem with these forums is that with the network of contacts and people who might be involved with a group or organisation that loses an aircraft and it’s pilot, they obviously could name them before they were officially identified and the family informed. And of course there is the risk it isn’t actually the person that they’ve been told was the pilot or crew!
As it happened, thatโs exactly what happened on WiX earlier (will have to wait and see if it was actually the person they named) but it was very promptly removed.

Thanks MK12.
I didn’t realise that David Green had passed away. ๐

That is very sad news indeed.
Just logged on for the first time this weekend and read the news about Roger Freeman and then saw this post. ๐
