Edit: aircraft deployed in the 1980s were fitted with a fixed FLIR pod on outer starboard pylon; type not specified. Wing hardpoints are stressed to 1000 kg inners and 750 kg outers and can be fully-loaded simultaneously, so plenty of scope there.
That is a fairly nice capacity.
Does anyone have an idea about the pod being carried on the inner pylon of the LCH ?

IAF to order 37 more Pilatus trainers worth Rs 1,250 cr
Pilatus could eventually supply 183 basic trainers
Ajai Shukla / New Delhi Feb 04, 2013, 00:20 ISTThe Indian Air Force (IAF) will order 37 additional the Pilatus trainer aircraft from Swiss manufacturer, Pilatus Aircraft Company, over and above the 75 trainers the IAF has already contracted for Rs 2,900 crore. That will take to 112 the number of Pilatus PC-7 Mark II trainers on order from the IAF.
A top IAF official told Business Standard, “The contract for 75 Pilatus trainers, which was signed last year, includes an options clause that allows India to order an extra 50 per cent of the contracted number of aircraft (i.e. 37 trainers) at the same price as the first 75 trainers. We will exercise this options clause this month.”

It seems like Eurojet GmbH is gearing up for offering its participation in upcoming collaboration tender for Kaveri. They will probably make a formal announcement at AI.

so if the Pilatus provides basic training and the Hawks advance, then how does the HJT-36 come in..or did that go the way of the Kaveri and Arjun mk1?
Same place as hawks.
HAL achieves Initial Operational Clearance for advanced light helicopter
PTI
BANGALORE, FEB 3:
Hindustan Aeronautics Limited on Sunday achieved the Initial Operational Clearance for its Advanced Light Helicopter Mk-IV, the Army Version of ‘Rudra’
K Tamilmani, CEO, Center for Military Airworthiness and Certification (CEMILAC), presented the certificate to the company, a HAL release said. “The occasion gives us the confidence. It is a proud moment for the country and boosts our indigenous activities,” HAL Chairman R K Tyagi said. The occasion marks HAL’s entry into the elite group of a few industries in the world which design, develop, manufacture and certify a helicopter as weapons system to international standards, he said. Tamilmani pointed out that the potential for helicopter ‘remains forever’ in India and the country has the ability to meet technical challenges on this front. HAL MD (Helicopter Division) P Soundara Rajan said integration of multiple weapons systems on the helicopter is a complex assignment. “In this particular case, it involved four major groups of systems and weapons, involving eight countries Israel, France, Belgium, South Africa, Germany, Italy, USA and India.” “Nearly 23 km of cables had to be laid and hundreds of hours of flight and ground tests were carried out,” he added.
^^ You’ll see it in Aero India 2013 coverage in three days eventually :).
The Indian Air Force (IAF) has received the first two Pilatus Trainer Aircraft (sn 690, P 101 and sn 691, P 102). See the pictures at: lifefist.blogspot.com

There are strong indications that some sort of formal agreement would be signed for Rafale during Hollande’s visit.
$10-bn defence deal to be signed during Hollande’s 2-day visit
Nayanima Basu / New Delhi Feb 03, 2013, 00:54 IST
French president to meet industry leaders visit to boost economic ties between two countries
…………………………….
Hollande would lead a high-powered delegation comprising senior French Cabinet ministers and business leaders from leading French companies. Among the highlights of his visit would be the signing of the $10-billion deal relating to the purchase of 126 French Rafale medium multi-role combat aircraft ( MMRCA) manufactured by Dassault Aviation.
…………………………..
Just a quick question, since I’ve only been following this program off and on. Has SAAB specified a rollout date, yet, for the actual E/F? Thanks.
AFAIK, the first prototype is supposed to roll out later this year.
Looks like this bird will carry an extensive ESM and self-defense suite along with its main sensors
Its the full package, MAWS, Two tone IR MLD, RWR, LWS along with other sensors from the AEW&CS like interferometer and the main antenna and multi sensor fusion to process that information. Let’s hope they have designed the the system small enough by a sufficient margin to fit on fighters.
Coutesy of Wmac at mp.net:-

A snapshot of Iranian TV Chanell 1, says the flying plane is a smaller model of it, not the real one.
“پرواز آزمايشي نمونه کوچک” (written under the snapshot) means : Flight test of smaller prototype.
What a strange video …Could have atleast shown it taxi , take off rather then shooting from what seemed like a gazzillion miles away..
Most likely an RC model.
A video of the first ‘flight’.
