At the going down of the sun…..

So let me get this straight:

We meet up at the Red Lion at 10:30, after parking our cars on the airfield ( that’ll throw the Police of the scent). We then return to the Red Lion. Later, we move our cars to another spot (to avoid Police helicopters I guess) and go to the Red Lion. We then go to the cinema to sleep it off, before going to the Red Lion. Then Mrs Moggy drives us all home, except Kev. Kev will then drive slowly past the Police and lead them in the opposite direction to throw them off the scent, before hiding his car in a hedge near a fence surrounded by our stepladders. When the Police climb over the fence in the belief we are there, they will find nothing. With perhaps the possible exception of Janie. Kev then returns to the Red Lion, where we have returned for one for the road. Which turns into a few rounds as there is really no point in going home, as we all need to be back a week later. Fortunately, we’ll have a bunch of books to read in between drinks.

Good points Kev, as usual. However, the amount of people who HAVE seen it is pretty impressive, and the day itself was rather special indeed! I had a letter from their Flight Commander, Joe Atkinson DFC, last week and he was very pleased, as were all the veterans I mentioned it to. The book is progressing VERY well, and if I can’t find a normal publisher I can at least self-publish on the old inkjet and sell them through the website, or perhaps at Duxford if we have a reunion and what have you next Legends, as well as at Association ‘do’s’. I am pleased on the whole – it’s just that AM and Flypast have the ‘right’ audience, so they would have been nice mags to have it reported in. Ah well.

Next plan is perhaps a bench at Duxford…..

Definately no snub that i’m aware of. They never even acknowledged receipt (usual way with them i’m afraid). I haven’t bothered to contact them again – 3 articles of which none were even touched on (The memorial, the award of Bee’s CdeG, and the launch / reunion). I mean, how much of Legends did they report? What the readers want is not neccesarily what the editorial team wants. My way of writing may not suit the magazine, they may not have space, or whatever. Besides, it’s not Corgi/Diverse Images. Spilt milk guys, it happens. Johnny and Babe have had a good airing, and there is more in the pipeline, so no problem from my viewpoint.

Now, with the magic words, this thread will disappear…..

Kev – if you can get a train to a station, i’ll pick you up. Birmingham to Cambridge possible? Have a look and let me know. If you book early it may be fairly reasonably priced.

Or perhaps Yak11fan will ask Maurice to pick you up in Janie, now that they’ve found her…..
