    You mean…..

    DA! DA! DA!

Janie was “elsewhere” other than on the flightline? At Legends? At Duxford?

I was lost. Then I was found. Perhaps it’s the same with Janie. Was it en-route to Damascus? Enquiring minds wish to know.

So who thought she was missing? And when? Where did they look?

Then how can she be found?

Or was it a religion thing?

Swan and fish in the same sentence? In that case, we must mention the Swan Inn at Barnby, Suffolk. Owned by Donny Cole, the Lowestoft fish merchant, the Barnby Swan is impossible to book on a weekend for months – but the best bloody fish eating place about. I’m over there on Thursday night for a splash-out.

Beer’s pretty standard fare from memory – but the food is great. Worth the drive for you Chris.

109’s? Cool. (Just to have some pretence of historical aviation).

Hmm. That’s very curious. Perhaps, and this is supposition on my part, he was posted as attached from 609 with a view to being posted fully to the sqdn. I’ll ask my friend to check in the 609 ORB. He may be able to shed some light on this.

George Proudman, as one example, was posted into 609 on attachment in 1940, but was never a member of 609 – this is what leads me to think this may be the case with de Hemptinne. I will dig deeper.

How can he revisit if he never existed? There’s a flaw in your question.
