Sounds like 257 Sqdn.
Check this – they’re near the bottom.

You crashed it, didn’t you. Your Colt. Shouldn’t drink and fly Moggy.
Me and a mate once decided, at 5:30, to go camping. So, we duly went and bought sausages, stole a supermarket basket (BBQ grill), kidnapped our girlfriends, and loaded all that, and tents, into his mini. Then we set off for Thetford Forest. Well, arriving at around 9pm, we pitched the tents on all the stones and branches we could find and started burning sausages – when all of a sudden there is this ****ING GREAT ROAR as 3 F-111’s take off just over our heads on full afterburner, followed by a ****ING GREAT ROAR as 3 F-111’s take off just over our heads on full afterburner, followed by a ****ING GREAT ROAR as 3 F-111’s take off just over our heads on full afterburner, followed by a ****ING GREAT ROAR as 3 F-111’s take off just over our heads on full afterburner, followed by a ****ING GREAT ROAR as 3 F-111’s take off just over our heads on full afterburner, as we had unwittingly camped under the flightpath for Lakenheath, maybe a mile or two away. Those things were LOUD! Superb it was. Even for a jet-hater like me.
22:09 before I could get on (bloody erks). No-one about. Bah. Been playing Vietcong all week, superb game – but can’t rescue Marv, so not allowed to play tonight.
Me bleedin’ Sabre is down! Sleeve valve wear. If I’m on, it’ll be later.
Have fun boyo!
Thats right, AFC. A typo!
13 Nov 1945. Air Force Cross (Dec AeM No 107 / 28.11.45)
“This officer is a flying instructor, who has served with No 9 and 12 Groups for the past 13 months. He has been at three OTU’s carrying out gunnery training. Squadron Leader Dieu is an exceptional instructor who carries out his duties with great energy and, as a result, training at the OTU’s has been benefitted considerably.”
Also:
11.10.45 Officer of the British Empire (Order of the British Empire?)
05.02.1957 1939-1945 Star
05.02.1957 France and Germany Star
05.02.1957 Atlantic Star
05.02.1957 Defence Medal
28.12.1960 Medaille de la France Liberee
And plenty of Belgian awards (too many for this time of night!)
S/Ldr (01.04.1945) Giovanni Ernest Fernand Dieu was discharged from the RAF 01.10.1946 with a Me109F (27.09.1941) and Fw190 (08.03.1942) as probables (Both in Spitfire VB AB975).
And from F/Sgt Bob Walling’s (A 609 Erk-boss) diary:
“Oct 3rd. One escort job to Ostend. No action. P/O Dieu (Mr God) taxied into Van in ‘U’ and crumpled the tail and fuselage – a/c written off. Reckon all taxying accidents are just plain carelessness.”
Keep the bloody picture to yourself! GGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!
Filling my monitor with your magenta casts. (Did you just change the pic?)
“What happened to the banter between you and Ian , did somebody rip their tights and took the huff”
Nah. Ian’s studying for an exam in delinquency and (in-)breeding of Jersey cows.
Please take Blair back. And the rest of the drunken beggars. Ta.
I can’t see why they bother having airshows anywhere other than Duxford anyway. They have the only ones worth going to. Other than Mildenhole of course (for the food, foood foooooood – the show sucks).
Still, if it keeps you barbarians where you belong instead of getting on our **** ‘daan saaf’, well, all power to East Fortune.
Lovell is second from left. This is 257 sqdn.
Nah. 72 DPI.
Funnily enough, I see artefacting on online pictures on my PC at work, but not my PC at home. Its a 100KB file Moggy, don’t worry about it. You can’t help being a photographic muppet.

Well, should you (as I believe Alexis is actually saying) have junk stalls to the detriment of those with an aviation flavour? NO. Sure, sell cuddly toys, but allow the traders who add to the aeronautical flavour to continue to go- purposely excluding them is ridiculous. Alexis is NOT being Bigoted Digby. If he was, he would mention corkscrews, Lancasters, and poles.
