But by pointing that out, you are pointing out that, even over how many centuries, people still refuse to be part of a wider nation – instead preferring to be known as ‘celts’ or some other long-dead tribe. France has stamped on the Breton for so long, trying to eradicate it – yet it is still spoken in many homes. The road signs are bilingual. They failed to dominate. The Basque also try and preserve their identity. Oh my, so do the Scottish and the Welsh. So, what, precisely, was your argument in the (long extinct) Celtic ‘race’ and how it supported the notion of a greater European federal republic?

SnapperMongu’s filled in the blanks for me Keltic. But as a direct answer, I feel we would be BETTER OFF if we were out of Europe and the EU. We would have lost less small businesses, we would have a more dynamic economy, and a more contented lifestyle. I see no benefit for us being ‘in Europe’. My parents generation voted for a trading partnership – at least, thats what they were told. The PM at the time KNEW what the long-term held. The govt refuse to hold a referendum on being in Europe, using the Euro, and capital punishment – because the overwhelming majority would answer no, no, yes.
European nations have had their blood and traditions watered down through centuries of border change and occupation. We have not – since 1066 we have remained ‘as is’ pretty much. Thats why it is easier for you lot to assimilate – you’re all ‘family’ We aren’t. What on earth does someone in Cornwall have in comon with someone in Northern Spain, culturally? Nothing. But someone in southern France? Or Northern France and southern Germany? Much of our heritage, tradition, and culture has been diluted through immigration over the last 60 years, and it’s been handled in a (detri)mental way. Now, with ‘political correctness’ we have absurdity to contend with too.
We should have a signpost on our entry points, reading ‘keep out’, and plaster it on the entrance to the houses of commons and lords. On second thoughts, we should bulldoze them, and just reinstate the monarchy – they already have the wealth, power, and fame, so can get on with ruling.

Am I a Norwegian? Its what this country – THIS country – is at this stage that is important. Thats what I want to preserve throughout my life.
Why, pray tell, must we become amalgamated? YOUR COUNTRY (from which my Grandmother came from) has not been in existence for a massive length of time, created by politics – like the EU incidentally. A buffer Zone between France, Holland and Germany. You have how many languages? Are you a French Belgian, or a Flemish Belgian? In all that time you haven’t even got a common language and culture in a tiny little kingdom like yours! Same as us and the Scottish / Welsh. My wife was born in Brest, Brittany. She is Breton, not French. She’s married me, she’s French, not English. And she is pro-Europe. Why? Is it jealousy of the fact that we are independent, and have never had border swapping parties along the lines of Alsace? And I DON’T knock Belgium – its one bunch of people whom I really admire.
