seriously? is that CGI, a fake? if so its pretty convincing, I dont think they can CGI detail as per bit at the end where he opens the hood.

The landing sequence is horribly edited. It’s clearly a fake.

You can land special RC planes on one wing. I’ve seen videos, and those were very real.

It’s not told what altitude it happened. It was in a 12 ship formation they crashed.Lundsten also crashed with a 124 sqd Spit when he landed as he had no rudder to control his plane on the ground.

Sadly, Lundsten died to friendly fire just days after the invasion of the continent. He was then a squadron leader of 331.

Sorry DCK, missed this, yes in fact it has generated hits (Google Blogspot lets you view things like hit numbers, referring websites, the countries they originate from, it’s rather fascinating I must say!)

    Good!!

God that was an inspired piece of essay writing. Congratulations young man, I have no idea of your age nor do I wish to know as there are many of my age (60+) who would be hard pressed to match it.
Well done and thanks for sharing it with us.

I don’t know his age, but under 30 maybe? But then again, you don’t wanna know πŸ™‚

I identify with where he’s coming from, as I’m 29 myself. I’m afraid I haven’t been able to write such an emotional piece on the BoB myself, but I do venture into writing when I have the time, and I hope my link to his article generated some of those visits he listed.

PS – One Tempest will be at Duxford on the North side today but only up to 17:00 and is likely to return every day up to Friday with a similar time limit. The other is being fettled to be there for both days at the weekend. there is a strong possibility that the two Tempests will be there, but not in formation, on Saturday and Sunday.

    Quickly, someone get a camera!

And may I add, the student discount for Flying Legends is absolutely FANTASTIC.

I’m a student and also fulltime worker. I have usually paid the full sum as it’s worth a good cause and I do my bit, but I have once or twice gone in on my student card. It’s a superb price offered.

1- the venue, ie ”we’ll meet on the Tank-Bank” (500 yards long! )
2- The Time ”We”ll meet when the sun is at its zenith !” ( sun not visible! )
3- I.D Problems “You’ll easily spot me, I have a camera, and sometimes tie my laces in a reef knot”
4 – Location Confusion “”We’ll meet by the tail of the Spitfire”
5.- Paralysing shyness. ie everybody DOES assemble, but nobody is bold enough to speak to ‘strangers’ in case it looks like a gay pick-up attempt, so everyone slopes off again, and curses the idiot who tried to arrange a meeting!

    :D:D:D:D:D

Awfully true those five examples. Especially the fifth one; “So errr…you look at Spitfires a lot?`”
