Sad news. I also met him at North Weald, and remember him clearly.
You certainly got me interested, so I ordered one too

Seriously??? Someone needs to upload some pics
Here’s one full scale, and one small scale, and both going extremely low.
First one is the now legendary Legends take-off…

And the other…
For the first time I think they actually put correct amount of swearing in a movie. Norwegians used bad language all the time, even in their log books.
I feel that too many times they’ve based these characters in their early 20’s on how the same people acted when they were 60-70 years old. Meaning entirely different persons, a 70 year old in a 20 year old body. A biography such as Wellums would be very different he had written it when he was 25. I could never quite catch that youthful feel to it when I read their memoars, especially the Norwegian ones. It all made sense to me after reading books written in that period, and not 60 years down the road. It’s one of the things I liked about First Light. They actually made him young.
Right about the Scots though. 😀
PL344 off? Or am I on the wrong Spit at the wrong company…
Well, considering the budget the reportedly had, they did rather good.
When it comes down to it, almost all of my criticism is due to budget.
The XVI was perfectly out of place, and considering how little it was used, and how much material there are around of taxiing Spitfires and the like, wouldn’t it have been smarter to skip it all togheter and simply buy some footage? Or, simply re-write the script a little?
It would have been better as a miniseries, yet to do with budget.
When Kingcome went down, and Tommy Lund, you needed to be sharp to follow, as they barely touched on that footage. They did it much better in Dark Blue World with some of the action footage, but with others they did well.
In the end, it showed a total lack of budget.
Very well done on so little go with.
So sign of any crash tenders present!
You do realise that for a large Airbus A380 you need at least four heavy-duty crash tenders, preferably larger than 1/12th scale 😀
I’ll be sure to give him the word!
My Hurricane never really tips over. It’s too heavy. The Mossie always tips, but it’s more with the gras and the bumps than the size and weight.
A bitt “off topic” this one, considering it’s not the real deal, but I figured weekend is a day for a good laugh.
Applause!!!!
Brilliant!
20 years down the road it will be a massive collectors item.
The SHF will be attending the show as usual, it looks like the small problems that had prevented them attending Legends have now been resolved!
So their fleet have not been sold?
The damage to the aircraft looks (according to my interpretation of the pics) to not be of serious nature, but it obviously needs a full check up and plenty of new parts.
Battle of Britain 70th anniversary
I have a slight feeling some of you chaps will like this one;
