anhedral good word for downward pointing wings
always thought pilots of these planes must be more twitchy when landing as there is less role available to them
    or more skilled!!!!!!

time has overtaken these classics, same with the TU-154, they were designed when the margines of safety were less tight than today, from what i have read of the latest crash it was more to do with crew panicing when the runway lights failed, seem a bit of a knee jerk action to ban the aircraft!
was the same not said of the last 154 incident in the apron fire?

the offset nose wheel was a typical querk of 1950s UK design, bit like the Britannia beautiful looking aircraft spoilt by the cockpit window arranngement, really looked better after Canadair put their modifications on it. going back further the comet too, lovely plane futuristic for late 40s, but then they stick a 1930s tailplane on it!!!!!!!!!

agreed Totty, guess thats why i think the A380 looks stubby, if they gave that about 20m more length it would look better

when i used to fly weekly Exeter – Belfast with JEA in 1996, often on the Sunday afternoon leg there would be one jolly hostess, with a 1920s type jolly hockeysticks name that eludes me, i think from chatting she was related to the JEA owners, and just used to help out. Great fun and great service.
best momory of her was when we had boarded at Belfast one Friday evening and we seated, by the co-pilot, we had to wait for our hostess as she was on the delayed Cork flight, when it landed it was parked at the opposite end of the terminal, the captain came on the address system and said ” we will be getting under way shortly, just waiting for out hostess to join us, if passengers on the left of the plane look out their windows now they will see her running along the apron infront of the terminal”

remember when AirEurope went bust, my old folks went to Cyprus that summer, the flights were taken over by Balken, (think it gave them idea for Balken Holidays airline)
anyhow after boarding the Blaken TU-154 at Cyprus 2 passengers were still standing with no seats!!!! a delay ensured
when the hostess passed my dad with the trolley he asked for a G&T and was met with the response, No orange juice or coffee!!!!!!!

yes agree about the laker livery, would look good on A330s now
imagine going on holidays on them with the Laker smile, and change in your pocket
