think it was the norm, but Cambrian BAC1-11s had seats facing each other on both sides at the over wing emergency exits
also in the same era i flew on an Aviogenes TU-134A and the first 12 rows were made up of groups of 4 seats facing each other rather like a train.

Winter 2010 Thomas Cook were using a 767 on weekend ski flights Manchester to Turin, may be same this coming winter
and about 10 years ago Airtours used to use their DC10s to get cruise passengers to Palma and back, this may be the case now with Thomsons for their cruises out of they they may put a 767 or A330 on

    thanks V
It was interesting that BOAC bought 707s at a similar time to BEA getting Vanguards, around G-AP** reg issueing.

when did it become fashionable to change a red number when change of ownership?
ie the Invicta Vanguard kept its original reg, but nowadays as planes change airlines the reg changes more often than not

the British airtours one i went on in 1976 was a 420 series with the RR Conways fitted, sleaker cowls and strange jet pods on the rear, i could be wrong but i did the front set of blades in these engines not rotate when running?
