Just an update I have contacted the Abergavenny Chronicle and awaiting a reply, but don’t hold much hope. Anyway fingers crossed.
I see some things have improved slightly but still a long way to go yet. Pity that the number of views and the number of replies have disappeared from the different threads, these in my opinion should be reinstated ASAP, what do others think?
Hello Ian, thanks for your reply, I grew up at Pandy, and went to school in Abergavenny. I always knew about the Spitfire crash on the Skirrid and I was looking at an old pamphlet on crashed aircraft in the area the other day and it stirred my interest in L1014 as it was so close to my home.
Also my partner’s father was at King Henry VIII grammar school at the time of the event and he remembered some of his classmates going to see it and talking about it the following day when they came into school. I would be interested to see any photos of it or of the accident. I haven’t contacted the Chronicle yet to see if they did much coverage of it.
Nobody ?. Trouble with this new setup you cannot tell how many have looked at the post. Anyway fingers crossed. Thanks
Anyone know if they are going to do a book or DVD about the whole flight? Think a book would sell well if it was well illustrated.
Have all the old private messages been deleted, i.e. the ones prior to the forum change?
Well done Stuart that is really impressive.
Good news, can’t have enough Spitfires . Thanks for posting Geoff
What a beauty, the looks are not spoiled in the slightest.
Well nothing has happened that I can see after all the promises by Kahlem and Bruce that things would be addressed . The forum is now a shadow of it’s former self prior to the disastrous revamp. I certainly hope that things improve and we haven’t been fed lots of empty promises, which it does seem like at the moment.
Ok, thanks Paul, that makes sense.
It’s a wonder Mark12 hasn’t been along to answer this, hope he’s still on the forum.
I have just opened my latest issue of FlyPast and had a glance through it, must say that I am pleasantly surprised. I was expecting something quite awful like what has been done to this forum but I am pleased to say that I really like the new format, as the mag was in need of an update. Well done on that score.
Jeepman we haven’t seen the new FlyPast yet, so I am hoping that It hasn’t been spoilt as much as this forum but it remains to be seen. I did wonder about it in an earlier post on this thread.
Good point lanc35, I hadn’t realised about loosing the private messages till you mentioned it. Yes that is a bugger.
