Right thanks Oxcart,I watched that series but must admit didn’t see them digging up this MK12 in France.
Looks like a static replica.
Book getting closer now then GORDY?:D
The book you want is “Pioneer Pilot: The great Smith Barry who taught the world how to fly” by F.D.Tredrey (who also authored “Pilot’s Summer”), Peter Davies Ltd, 1976.
Yes that’s the one that I read, couldn’t remember the title at the time of my post above. It really was an excellent read.
No one interested then?:)
I read a book about him about 6 months ago,his set up did some fantastic training.I found it so interesting that I hunted down another book by one of his team of instructors called “How to fly and instruct on an Avro” by F Dudley Hobbs.Brilliant
It’s a wigwam for a mustard mill.
What engine are you using in it?
Hi Sopwith
Might be Spit IX MH603. Would be correct for 1942 (I think)

Thank you Chris.
Being thick now ,but which Spitfire is that Daniel?.Amazing place with all the coach building going on in the other pictures, really nice to see that sort of craftsmanship.
Javelin at Box near Bath
I saw this thread and it prompted me to ask does anyone know if the Javelin that was outside the underground munitions depot at Box is still there? I went there about 20 odd years ago and it looked pretty ropey then,so hopefully it may have had a bit of TLC in the meantime.
Was there an AAIB report on the accident,or the French equivilant?
I had a go for it,pipped at the post, 1 second to go and no chance to rebid, but who knows what the winner had put his maximum up to.Would have been nice though:(
Mmmmmm…!! nice original 1939 Spitfire sales brochure………….

It was a nice one, anybody on here buy it?
Yes I belonged to TIGHAR about 25 years ago, seemed a good idea at the time, soon realised the score and didn’t join again.I am amazed that they have survived so long. When I joined they were looking for “L’oiseau Blanc”,but I don’t think anything came of that.
