The reference to the ‘unknown’ ice fault is not that it had not occurred in service before, as clearly it had, but more that it was not an event that had been foreseen or contemplated by the original design team.

I read his messages on Twitter and the impression that clearly comes across is that he really loves the kids (as opposed to his cow of an ex-wife).

Whilst he is obviously trying to flog a new album I wouldn’t say his response to the line of questioning was for publicity.

    Yes, definately out of order

It is listed in Yefim Gordon’s Aeofax book on the Il-76…..

    Il-76-11 ELINT testbed…

“….converted Il-76T ‘Falsie’ RA-76490 (ex-CCCP-76490, ex-YI-AKO, c/n 093416506, f/n 1307) into an electronic intelligence equipment testbed designated Il-76-11. The ELINT antennas were housed in a large semi-cylindrical fairing on the starboard side only which blended smoothly into the main gear fairing. etc etc….. By August 1999 RA-76490 had been reconverted to standard configuration and returned to service with Elf Air, the flying division of NPO Vzlyot”

The same two B&W photos are shown in the book.

    Ken

I think YI-AKO came into Heathrow in the 80s when they were coming two or three a week

So, if a poster has some doubts about a prototype, of a new design, in a a totally new field for the Russians (stealth), that just made 40 min first flight, try to answer him with facts; maybe he just doesn’t share your excitement, that’s all.

Whatever happened to the Su-25 that was exhibited at Khodynka in the early days of the museum back in 1993 or so that was covered in RAM tiles?

Interesting to see the finish of the body at 2:26 and later on. A bit like a Su-27 with all the rivets/fasteners etc.

Note the JASDF C-130 in the background here. Also reports of a C-130 from Taiwan here as well with the serial and markings covered over.

remind me of your surname… so that if I hear your name on the tannoy as that at the pointy end of a flybe flight I can get off!

I’m on FlyBE this weekend BHX-EDI, so I hope Deano gets some sleep before then…

Attack? What on earth are you talking about?

There was a post directly above mine, and it has been deleted. If it was directed at you I would have told you.

OK apologies apologies. It was a bad morning in the office and I didn’t sleep last night etc etc 😉

    Ok, ticking timebomb stage guys.

This thread is about Varsity, it isn’t about Martin Halstead, discussion about AlphaOne & Martin Halstead will not be allowed, I said this once before.
Discussion about Varsity, it’s routes, it’s aircraft, it’s website, it’s pricing, it’s strategy etc etc is all good. Discussion about MH & A1 is not. Sorry chaps, I’d like to discuss it too, but we just can’t.

    🙂

Given that your post is right after mine, I presume the attack is on me.

I think it is right and fair that any airline company structure is confirmed from public documents, which I have done to stop the endless speculation.

Given that he is the one director of the company and one of the two shareholders then surely it is impossible to separate him out from further discussions on the company.

Or has company management structure and shareholders suddenly become a taboo subject for this forum?
