Wasn’t there a B707 fuselage in one of the Cardington hangars for smoke hood trials (I haven’t got access to my W&R here)?
Who did it? NATS is pointing at the captain apparently..
Interesting the reference to consternation among U-2 pilots about high flying aircraft over Iraq. The UAVs must have been high 😉
So, just to save any confusion, here is a direct link to the place where you can download the article (the link I provided gives you the background blurb)
I think you will find that there are IATA (and ICAO) technical specifications which have to be followed when operating specific types of aircraft into terminal facilities and that it is absolutely not left to chance and a tape measure
Such incidents that have occurred in the past at terminals have been due to these specifications being ignored by the airport or the aircraft operator
Another 6 that made it to the UK was TF-ISC.
This page is useful for the 6s in the north west at least.

Remember that USN C-54 91998 was still active in the early 70s as well…
I have seen pictures of battle damaged A-10s being buried in the sand
I only ever ate there once when I was seeing people from ACI whose offices (at that time) were down that end of the terminal. It was usually the Swissair canteen for me whenever I visited the IATA offices at the other end.
In the restaurant at the western end of the terminal and the tail fin used to be up on the roof. Number 27 from memory. Maybe they moved it all, as it’s a few years since I was there last.
And Mr Stott is still on the go as well? I seem to recall I took over as SCAN mil editor from him many many moons ago.
I was thinking, didn’t we discuss this recently? But I see discussion was terminated…

There are parts of a French Navy Atlantic in the terminal building at Geneva Cointrin
I visited here on 1/11/64 – was involved in pulling flexible tanks out of Firebrand wings to read serials etc.(No – I can’t remember why!!) but DID NOT OWN A CAMERA then, to my eternal regret.
Glad you found your way here at long last…
Near Tucson, I presume? Why are they orange…ex-training machines?
About 6 years ago I stopped by a vehicle/helicopter/military surplus yard near the Pima musuem and I bought a rust free tailgate for my old Jeep.
The guy asked if I wanted a H-34. He was selling restored static examples for $10,000.
May even have been this yard as that is in that area across the road from Pima museum. If it was the yard on the corner then it would have been “Bob’s Air Park” which had a few H-34s up until it was cleared.
Before I went the tour organisers were not sure if anything would be there for us to see as there was development all around.
Just before my visit vandals set fire to the IL14.
As for the canopies they have just been left open
John
I was offered the Il-14 as part of the deal and was told they would make it airworthy (for an unreasonable amount of dollars). They just kept jacking the price up and up.
After it all collapsed I discovered they had previously tried to sell the aircraft in China but interest there had disappeared after similar increasing demands.
I also recall multiple “interests” behind the aircraft which was a problem even for the principals on the museum side.
Sad sad sad
