Jonesy: Yes indeed she was a tough little ship as were all of that class! I remember the RAAF trying to sink our old D.E. HMAS Swan, it took so much to sink her, something like four Harpoons and several unguided bombs, they even straffed it.
Ex-HMAS Swan DE 50 was sunk as a dive wreck. Are you thinking of ex-HMAS Derwent DE 49, used by DSTO for testing before being scuttled? Ex-HMAS Torrens DE 53 was sunk by HMAS Farncomb using a Mk48 torpedo, but no River Class Destroyer Escorts were sunk as targets by the RAAF?!?

Best shot of one I’ve seen yet!

More pics from the Vientiane Times coverage of Lao Military Day, first one shows the new segmented roundel quiet nicely!

Here’s the best I’ve seen thus far, and a decal I made based on it.

[QUOTE=cy24driver2;2364907]Can someone idenfify this shark-mouthed AN-2 Colt?
LY – A?? registration visible under lower wing in first photo is Lithuanian.
Ugandan Hind
Interesting it still has the old 1964 roundels, unlike the new ones on the ex-Polish MiG-21’s
Yemen Airlines Aero Commander, RAF Khormaksar, Aden, 1958
Considering the Protectorate of Aden and Yemen were at war at the time it’s arrival caused much consernation!
An-14
Are you sure this is Guinea Bissau? The roundel looks like Guinea to me.
By the way, the Mongolian An-14 and the DRC Mi-8 are fantastic! Thanks!
Actually looking closely it almost looks like a Djiboutian roundel, they certainly used the An-28 Cash derived from the An-14 although are not listed as a user of the latter at all.
Wow, what a rare one!
Guinea Bissau An-14
I see only a roundel, did she wear any serials?
Tunisian F-5F’s
Just below their tail codes, Tunisian F-5F’s have a smaller set of numerals.
Can’t see them on the E’s, but Y 92502 & Y 92506 definitely have them.
Does anyone know what they are? Former USAF serial, construction number, ???
Go Military Aircraft Slides!
In 2009 the Sri Lankan Air Force changed their serials, ie retired FT-5 CTF-701 became SFT-1301 and newly-refurbished An-32 CR-869 became SCM-3304, see pics from Airliners.net below –

That’s the transports & trainers covered, but does anyone know what letter/numeral combinations the combat aircraft (F-7BS/GS, Kfir C.2/C.7, MiG-27M) now wear?
Thanks, Jamie
Once again this excellent site has answered my query, lovely shots of SLAF aircraft in their new livery. Note most have variations of those blue bars seen on the An-32 in the Ukraine, they look EXACTLY like RAF-style squadron bars and I think that’s what they are!

Thanks SO much MSphere!
Well, maybe your eyes are better than mine but I can read something like SF S5304 on this MiG-27.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/blindshooter/3591619063/in/photostream/
In the photostream you can also find many other elements of the SLAF like C-130 (SQH-3402?), PT-6 (SBT-1607?) or Mi-17 (SMH-4309), all were re-serialed.
Pure gold, definitely SFS5304 on that 27 and I can see SFW5201, SFW5203 & SFW5204 on the Kfir’s, pity the F-7’s aren’t readable apart from SFTXXXX on the FT-7.
That An-32 in the Ukraine seems to be the only one wearing those blue bars!
