Israel did it all alone? Wake up… Anyone with full hardware backup and information support can do that. Even Sri Lanka can win a war against the rest of Asia… How else do you think Taiwan is still standing against China? And it is not cause the arabs are that bad. For your information… Arabs and jews are the same. It is the training and support to make it better. The soviets didn’t send the top planes or trainers to the arabs. Besides one can fly a top plane but with every info forwarded to the enemy that plane is worth less then assumed…
no trade… Isn’t that stupid? Economy is th ebases for a healthy relationship. But the wind is changing… Bit by bit… Don’t think that LCA will enter PAF or JF17 will enter IAF but the smog is clearing…
MKI… Wow…
The only problem will be the costly TVC replacements. But the MKI is one of the nicest looking planes… A picture allways invetes to look again and again…
The Karakoram 8 Intermediate Jet Trainer, built in collaboration with the Chinese, was flown daily in standard aerobatics displays, by very proficient PAF pilots. The small Mushak, which has been adapted for firing guns and rockets was also displayed. On 10th December over 100 Pakistani Air Force and other service officers led by the Pakistani Vice Chief, Air Marshal Tanveer landed at the show from Karachi in a PAF 707 and went around the pavilions and displays. The keen interest shown by the Pakistani visitors to glean all the modern technology that was on display, and the interactions, indicated that the Pakistani Air Force has professionalism in their ranks and their showing at the Dubai air show was no mean achievement.
Jokingly when the author complemented the General Manager of the IDS Group Captain Ijaz A Khan at his stall he was all for attending Aero India at Bangalore –– if invited, indicating a new atmosphere since the cease fire had been declared.
[i hope not a joke…] The JF17 and FC1 together in display (smile)
Not allowing anything more high tech then MKK? That means that MKI is more high tech? (Sounds correct what Indian friends here are telling then). Is that why they are talking to the French and putting more effort in the J10 and FC1?
Is that why Israel bought F15I and F16 with conformal tanks? That means that it is probably first time ever that the Iranian airforce has to import F14, F4 and F5 from an other nation then Israel…
Non US if they want to stay independent. Or what about trying the Rafale… (smile).
Wolverine… Can you start becoming less offensive? It is a forum… Not a barking place. About the LCA. It looks fine. I just wondre how it will look in mean grey colouring. Do not underestimate the avionics. We haven’t seen the final version here also.
I wait for the signing ceromony… India wants a lot of things and most of the news is false. The Ghorskov deal is running for ages… I don’t see any Rafales flying there in short time… If the LCA is entering the IAF somewhere near 2010 then the Rafale is 2020… We have seen how long the needy Hwak deal took and even then it is not finished.
A man, let some of the Indians here burn. Let them think that India built everything and superior to everything. Why else would one use the name scream. Pakistan and China are working well together. K8 and JF17 are an example. The El Khalid was also a joint production. Ok India has MKI… Fine for them. As long as they can get it in the air…

Wow, 5 pages of pure unadultrated BS and fantasizing with absolutely nothing vaguely resembling a fact! Can I have those few minutes of my life back?SOC, why do you bother with these dumbasses? If it’s not their flaming, it’s empty rhetoric such as this! “We have BVR capability wheeeeeee!!!!! India is doooomed!!!! Hoorray!!!” 😀
h177 aka village idiot himself has contradicted that pile of garbage with his report from the PAF cheif stating that they were still seeking BVR. Even if the Americans hand over the Aim-120C on a platter, the PAF’s outdated training would take some two decades to catch up with India’s current standards. When the tables were turned – when the PAF had winders and R530s and the IAF had minimal AAM capability, the paks still got their asses kicked! 😀
Who is flaming here… Lovely… Lovely indeed…
With the MKI and M2KH as platfgorm they can have a lot of options. Haven’t seem them sofar. But having air superiority they can loiter on the A2G part much longer then PAF.
Why not. It is nothing personal and great way to find out more about developments. It is strange somehow. We all know that Pakistan has adapted some planes to carry nukes yet we have never seen any pic with strange weapon… I think that same goes for BVR. They are not that slow. If they have developed or copied many other things then this should be not impossible either. We will see it in 2004 anyway.
Cheers.

the EJ2000, F119 and even the Kaveri work more like turbojets than turbofans. they are all very low bypass ratio fans.
the emphasis has been given on more trans and suersonic flight and combat.
for things like super cruise (not applicable to LCA as per now) which the F22 needs and the ef2000 might get, the engine needs to work like a turbojet whith a lot of air going through to the compressor. a low bypass engine what most 4/5th gen aircraft use. as Distiller points out it is an issue of doctine and tactics.modern engines just happen to have fewer stages both in compressor stages and turbine stages. this saves alot of weight.
I don’t think that the Kaveri is comparable to any other decent engines. And it is not working yet or even ever.
A nation that has felt the cash mentallity of the French, the goodweather friendship of the US and the arrogance of the UK is only facing China or building own. There are no options left to get anything anytime soon. Just like South Africa in the past… Build own or get a share… Here something about the lovely US friendship…
From PAkdef a very clear view:
It is wide spread feeling in Pakistan and the writing is on the wall. I agree with you of the problems (you) identified and Pakistan’s predicament, but what is Pakistan’s threshold? Should we (as a nation) cave in to every US demand?
let’s look at US/India relationship since 9/11 (again) more critically. It is slowly but surely strengthening its strategic ties with India that has included military training, intelligence sharing and supply of the state of the art sophisticated hardware which is a clear destabilizing factor given the nature and the military balance between India and Pakistan with a nervous Pakistan with its finger on the nuclear button. As we all know, only last year, US and India at the height of India/Pakistan tension held their first joint military exercises .The war games were near Agra and concluded in May or probably June with code-named “Balance Iroquois”. This exercise involved Indian commandos and a fairly reasonable size of US Special Forces contingent. Exact details of the exercise were kept secret but its basic object was training in air-borne assault (one should ask where?) and general military collaboration. US Embassy (in Delhi) described it as the largest army exercise ever to take place at a time when PAF was on red alert. So, under the circumstance what kind of the signal US was trying to give to Pakistan? Again to reiterate, the most significant aspect of this exercise was its timing as India poised to strike against Pakistan. The decision not to cancel the exercise only encouraged India to take a more belligerent stance. It was first clear indication that US was on India’s side regardless of what Pakistan thought.
Another clear and clear incendiary action last year to strengthen Indian intransigence at the time of heightened tension; Indian army acquired eight AN/TPQ-37 firefighters, an artillery-locating radar system at a cost of $146 million. The AN/TPQ-37 can pinpoint mortar, rocket launchers and artillery at a range of up to 60 km after tracking a shell for just a few seconds. US has also underscored the key role of India in US strategic planning, declaring that this sale of the radar system will contribute to the foreign policy and national security interests of the US by helping to improve the security of a country that has been and continues to be a force for political stability and economic progress in South Asia. This rubbish talk of “stability” “security” and “progress” was at a time when more than million Indian and Pakistani troops confronted each other on high alert along the Indo/Pakistan border.
If you look at Pakistan’s threat scenarios it boils down to threat/s to (her) nuclear capability either from US, India/Israel or US/India/Israel and you do not need a PhD in Political science to figure out why they are working so closely and who would be their target ? India very conveniently has identified “Islamic terrorism” along with Israel and US as the main threat to their security. US ultimate nightmare is these nukes in “so-called” Islamic fundoos hands.
At the end of the day, $billions spent by Pakistan on nuclear weapons to buy ultimate security have increased the possibility of her becoming a potential target of attacks from US, India and Israel.
And this is where we need a very strong air force and are we not 12 years too late? Or nothing is (never) too late in our case?
