Both are very light aircrafts. Looking at the range both Lancer and Bison are point defence. Looking at radar size they are just a start for BVR. But I am indeed googling. I wonder why Romania elected Lancer.

So the Bison is a very big improvement while Lancer is just a little more western avionics?

everything seems to be taking much longer than planned.

So far, the FC-1 is the closest thing I’ve seen to this. (Although not exactly next generation)…

MIG-21 and LCA small nose radar will not see FC-1 at distance for lockon. The rest are too big targets. Those days are gone when larger Aircraft has bigger radars and heavier BVR had a big advantage.

    First part: LCA?
Second part: edit your lines. Bad manners.

    >>>as for Lancer and Sniper.. to me, they are more like projects that introduce the integration of western technology into their aircraft, nothing more. Although they improve cockpit ergonomics and allow the use of some weapons, they don’t really increase the over all capabilities of the aircrafts themselves.

What is then the difference between those Lancers and IAF Bison?

To be honest. Last time they had paid for them and in the end they had to pay for the storing in USA without ever getting them. I am convinced if I see them landing in Pakistan.

Actually it was only a few months ago.
And trust me, French/Israeli upgrades are usually way better than the Russian offers.

I remember that Russia has upgraded Mig21 (Bison) and Israel did the same (Lancer). Don’t think that foreign firm upgrades are better. That is what the Russian said. They produced and developed the plane and the years of experience is valuable.

Source? Cause reading some Indian articles showed me that reality and articles can be two different things.

A funny article. Don’t try to make stupid flames out of it. We all can see it is just not the reality but somehow it reminds me of that Indian that called his Pakistani neighbours cause they kicked his dog. Some say it is not fitting in this topic. Well I have seen several currency theories in the other topic so please keep it easy.

Pervez is the man who makes us tick
    JUG SURAIYA

TIMES NEWS NETWORK[ SUNDAY, DECEMBER 26, 2004 08:43:55 AM ]

The big political question increasingly being asked is: Who’s really running this country? A few people think it is Manmohan Singh. A lot more people think it’s Sonia Gandhi. But the person really running India is neither of these. It is Pervez Musharraf. The Pakistani president (that’s his minor job, his real job is being CEO of India) has got us totally out-generaled. In effect, we’ve outsourced our government to him. It’s Islamabad, not Delhi, that’s running India. Literally. Each time Pervez drops the K word, particularly if it’s in Washington, he has us running around in circles crying ‘Foul!’.

Never mind if large parts of the country have no bijli or paani , or that our trains collide headlong with each other, or that planes can’t take off or land at Delhi airport because of fog. All this is a bagatelle compared to the K word. May it not go straight from Pervez’s mouth to Bush’s ear.

The Ambani empire (currently subject to its own problems of cross-brother if not cross-border terrorism) is estimated at Rs 90,000 crore. Who’s next? As CEO of India, Pervez commands an industry worth Rs 70,000 crore a year. It’s called India’s defence budget. Why do you think we need those nuclear subs and aircraft carriers? For China? Forget it. The Chinese are too busy clobbering our market with 25-rupee alarm clocks and 2,500-buck DVD players to bother about us militarily.

No, Pervez calls the shots for us. If to that 70,000 crore defence budget you add the costs of all the subsidies for Kashmir, high-level conferences, global lobbying, and volume of media space Pervez makes us fork out for, he’s probably a bigger money-spender for us than the Ambanis are money-spinners.

Pervez – or rather Pakistan – is our great motivator. Without the P word, a large part of our Army — the third largest in the world – would have to stand down, swelling the ranks of the unemployed, together with the vast and growing tribe of ‘Kashmir experts’.

We’d have to sell our nukes and subs and other lethal hardware to the kabariwalla . Make no mistake. Pervez is the one who makes us tick. Like a time bomb.

GNAT was very good actually, it was the “Sabre Slayer” afterall.

Looking at the totals then the rest failed to do so. I am not sure but PAF did destroy more plabnes then their counterpart. The advantage of the Gnat that it was extremely small. At that time with no decent air radars that was very handy. But I doubt that it was a superaircraft with only canons. Can anyone give the total victims of the Gnat? There is one Gnat still in Pakistani Museum. Are there any in India left and are there pics of those?

And let us move back to intresting news:

ISLAMABAD: A high-level defence delegation is visiting China early next month to further strengthen ties of the two countries in the field of defence and discuss enhancing of cooperation in it.

Senior Federal Minister and minister for defence Rao Siknadar Iqbal will lead the delegation and high officials of the three services will accompany the senior minister in ten-days trip of that country.

The highly placed official sources told The News here that Pakistan and China have planned to enter into joint production of most sophisticated high-tech weapons for the air and naval forces. The members of the delegation would work out details for the prospectus of cooperation in various areas. The delegation will visit certain defence installations and defence production units in China.

The visit of Pakistan’s delegation would have significant importance in the backdrop of the visit of the Indian army chief General Vijh who arrived in Beijing on Wednesday (yesterday). It is the first visit of an Indian army chief to China in more than ten years.

The defence delegation will have added importance because it is taking place in less than a month of the visit of the Prime Minister of Pakistan to China. Interestingly the Chinese Prime Minister is also visiting India towards the end of the first quarter of next year, sources added.

Pakistan and China are enjoying the best of the relations in the field of defence as China has helped Pakistan in all sorts of weathers. China is the one country that stood by Pakistan in the situation when all the potential friends tuned back to Pakistan in the hour of need. Pakistan and China are producing mid-tech multi-role aircraft (so now even they tell us that it is medium tech) for their air forces while Pakistan is acquiring destroyer ships from China for its navy. The ships would be later produced in Pakistan through transfer of technology.

A high level team from the Defence Production Division (DPD) is also visiting with the defence minister to China. The delegation will also visit number of defence installations apart from having trip to defence production units in that country that are not shown to the other country’s dignitaries. Both the countries are already cooperating with each other in manufacturing of traditional weapons. The volume of this cooperation would be expanded as the result of the visit, the sources said.

Both the countries are keen to boost the production in the areas where they are already cooperating with each other. Pakistan is interested in revamping of Heavy Mechanical Complex and modernising it in accordance to the new requirements.
