Look Pakistan is trying to get basic aviation industry running. The will start with fc1 and even then the simplest technology (no carbons). They miss at the moment the latest generation in the PAF. How can they become that dangerous to India? I agree about China but one has to be less concerned about Pakistan.
The article did not show the quantity of Erieye. Maybe they agreed less… Or maybe it is a lease construction. About these F16’s. Even if Bush would go ahead. Even if the planes are delivered before the end of the year. It takes just another US presidents a few days to get them grounded and looking at the fact that Kerry takls about cross border terrorism from Pakistan… Talking about co-operation with India to counter China (old communism hater during Viatnam). I doubt that it would be wise to pay and see soyabeans. As they say in Dutch… “” zelfs een ezel stoot niet twee keer aan dezelfde steen…”.
As usual Indian reaction is bit strange. India exploded nuclear bombs. Pakistani reacted. India has 5 times bigger force. India has seperated part of Pakistan (200 million). India is buying MKI, Mirage2000 and is busy with many programs like Druv or LCA and PAK-FA. Yet when their weaker neighbour which has antique F16A/B (bought around 1984) hopes to get something more up to date then vintage Mirages 3 or 5 then the same India is asking everywhere not to deliver. I think Pakistan may not need high tech. So when relying on its defence it can use nuclear deterrence. We won’t like that. If Pakistan buys Fc1 or J10 then India will restart MCA cause Pakistan might get better planes. I think we can openly say that Pakistan is not intrested in attacking India. The main problem is Kashmir which can be viewed both ways. I personally do not favour any side. That is the reason for LOC or Kargil stories where freedomfighters or terrorist attack Indian soldiers and vice versa. It is deplorable that such beautiful region has to become negative news. Both nations have to do their best to improve this and India should move on. They do not need to compare with Pakistan. Throwing negative energy will make India not better but weaker compared to China. And India and China are the real Asian Tigers. 50% world population and huge potential. I think that a few planes would not harm India. Not more then those large quantaties MKI or Mig29… Nobody reacts when India is buying nuclear subs. Nobody is taking notice of India getting a lot of offensive weapons from Israel. So as usual. India should not bother about minor quantities and qualities if it is started the race and fuleing it every day.
Cheers.
I just read the Lock-on manual about the F15… The same plane that was used in the Indian-US excersise…
Quote:
F15C Eagle
The F15C has often been labeled as the greatest fighter in the world… The F15C, equipped with improved avionics and weapons over the original F15A, has scored over 100 air-to-air victories in the service of Israel, KSA, and the US without suffering air losses…
The F15C rules the beyond Visual Range arena. No slought in a dogfight, the F15C excels at finding targets, positively identifying them as hostile, and engaging them with AIM-120 AMRAAM and AIM-7M missiles before the enemy can respond.
The Eagle is somewhat restricted in the close-in dogfight. The AIM-9 sidewinder, a reliable weapon that has soldiered on since the 1960’s, does not have the high off-boresight capability of recent Russian heat-seaking missiles. Eagle drivers should generally favor the higher-speed “energy fight” in favor of the of the low-speed turning duel, especially against nimble adversaries…
end quote…
Well. Looking at the restrictions… The Eagle did exactly that fight that it is never advised to do… No wonder it lost.
This is just a simple game but let me go on with the su27 which was the opponent…
Quote
The Su-27 is tailored for air-to-qir combat, not air-to-ground. Armed with R-27 Alamo, the flanker has an impressive BVR capability. Meanwhile, the helmet-mounted sight and the high off-boresight R-73 Archer heat-seeking missile, coupled with the Su-27’s high trust and sustained turn capability give the aircraft a powerful edge in a knife fight. High-AOA manuevring helps the pilot point his weapons at the enemy.
So… Su-27 was allowed to maximum utilize its adventage…
Thanks for the data. I fully agree. About the data… Hr? Shouldn’t that be Second?
For those that think Pak is buying just for fun…
Pakistan and Swedish AWACS.
Apart from hard financial decisions, Shaukat would have to make strategic financial decisions also in coming days. His go-ahead both as the prime minister and the finance minister would be required by the Pakistan Air Force in its near final decision to purchase an airborne surveillance and monitoring system from Sweden. The deal was actively discussed and finalised during President Pervez Musharraf’s visit to Sweden this year.
The PAF purchases of Airborne Early Warning and Communication System (AEWACS) from Sweden would cost the exchequer somewhere around $1.3 billion (Rs 7,000 crore, an amount enough to build some 1,000 secondary schools and 1,000 300-beded reasonably equipped hospitals in the country. Shaukat will make a decision before the end of the year.
On he other hand the economy and peace with India… (pakistan observer)
Pak looking to achieve 8 pc GDP growth: PM
Sharafat Kazmi
Islamabad—Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has said that Pakistan has achieved a GDP growth rate of 6.4 per ent and was looking forward to achieve the growth rate of 8 per cent.
Shaukat Aziz was talking to Asian Development Bank President Tandao Chino who called on him here Wednesday.
He said economic development in Pakistan has created optimism for peace in the region.
The Premier said the ADB has been an active development partner of Pakistan, lending as much as a billion US dollars every year for uniform-structure development. The Bank also provided funds for micro finance projects in the country, he added.
The Prime Minister acknowledged the ADB help in streamlining the accounting procedures and matters relating to the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan.
He also referred to the Bank’s assistance for construction of Roads network from Gwadar Port and Karachi Port and expressed the hope that it would contribute substantially towards promotion of trade.
He said that business and economic activities are picking up and expanding considerably owing to the enabling environment prevailing in the country.
He said Pakistan would exit IMF programme by the end of the year.
Reciprocating the sentiments, the ADB President Tadao Chino said that Government of Pakistan deserved credit for taking steps to attain economic sustainability.
He said Pakistan is requiring high economic growth, therefore, it should be equitably shared by the people, he observed.
He also said that India-Pakistan bilateral talks have rekindled hope for optimum peace in the region. The President of Asian Development Bank congratulated the Prime Minister on assuming the office and hoped that Pakistan will prosper and make great progress under his leadership.
He lauded Pakistan’s policies of creating an enabling environment for private sector growth. He said economic development in Pakistan has created optimism for peace in the region.
ADB, he said, would provide assistance for infrastructure development in Pakistan. Private sector development is priority of ADB and the bank would help in promoting private sector investment in Pakistan.
The Bank would also provide assistance in providing connectivity with Afghanistan and central Asian states by better road network.
Rapid reload has no value to me. Let us think about a launch. At the moment it will be not the only launch. The same happens with the counter (why would anyone attack non nulcear power with nuclear weapons). A few hundreds explosions… Do you actually think one is busy with reloading? Within a few hours there would be atomic fallout everywhere…
Distiller. Let make that 3 times biggger. But they did not alter intakes on Mirage f1. So the mirage f1 atar has the same mass flow?
finity. It is open architecture. I do know they have multiple options in almost everything. Replacing engine with bigger one means one has to add space cause the fc1 body is minimal… But we will see when Chinese engine will be added.
rd33 is now a lot less smokey (look at newer mig29 and fc1 part two)… It isn’t fuel hungry but the Mig29 had not enough internal fuel… Just like f16 has not much internal fuel…
I agree one cannot replace simply… Mirage f1 SA has rd33.. They were very happy with that performance. I don’t see whole new mirage f1…
If Iran has the ability to make some copies I would not be extremely certain whether copying is possible but I think they have China which has tested their version by now… BTW the pilots do not copy engines… Most of the time it is scientific personnel… And flying in other airforces plane doesn’t make a pilot invincible.
Fc1 has rd33 and that is a small plane… But I doubt one could add two rd33 into fc1… Anyway. What comes tom mind… Why has the LCA no rd33? The IAF is used to mig29 (two rd33) so they could just buy afew more. Now they suddenly go for whole new engine from the US.
Little incorrect. The chinese avioncs and weapons are integrated in China. The western variants will be done in Pakistan. Not sure but read somewhere that Pakistan is focussed on the integration of the sd10 in Pakistan.
The plane landed pretty flat. Looking at the nose cone that is still attached the impact wasn’t exactly rough. Can anyone tell me at what altitude the two pilots ejected? Merci.
I pay contribution and am registered. It is latest mag. I don’t think I wanna have problems with mr Warnes (copyrights). So wait a few days and buy it.
Do understand that you ask for an illegal copy of a magazine while posting this request at their forum… 😉
Do buy the AFM mag. There is an article about:
COPE THUNDER 2004
Manolito Jaarsma gives a brief account of the annual series of COPE THUNDER exercises held in Alaska.
I think AFM is doing great coverage (although I have not received my copy yet) and I hope they will add an article about the Antatolian Eagle next time. Those exotic aircrafts (Israel/Pakistan/etc etc) are worth reading.
