there aint no money for 125 mirages. so its going to remain in limbo for many years. more urgent progs like bison/jag/mig27 upg and MKI production line will get lions share of $$ for next few yrs.
And hawk. But there is a lot more cash then other nations have. If you look at the budget at the moment. Wow. But maybe the M2k will be a reserve if LCA will not outgrow testing phase. They have enough experience (even bombing in Kashmir) with M2k and I don’t think they are not happy with it.
Fact is that there’s no evidence beyond internet based rumor mongering, speculation and wishful thinking. From what I noted, there has’nt been such a deal and correct me if I’m wrong, since there has not really been any real evidence of the same, it should’nt raise anyone’s eyebrows on the claim. If it were “secret”, no point in bringing it up in an open forum, is there, given that the intention itself, would be contradicting the purpose to deny the existance of the same in the first place.
On the other hand, there is certainly something low profile, designated H-4, but that has nothing to with Denel or Kentron and is an ASM from what I gathered.
That is indeed your opinion. As said it is not as open as other nations. Maybe that clears it besides the fact that throwing in the open meant Indian pressure towards the producers…. Blink blink. Your opinion is as valuable as telling that Pakistan is not capable of producing nukes. And boys, that was a shock for the oldest democracy on earth. So underestimating isn’t the best route. We have seen 911… And the CIA and FBI are not amateures…
Let me move your post towards the famous one sided area. It is like LCA and Arjun being state of the art and anything Chinese being garbage… Sofar they have achieved many export successes. Maybe not state of the art but atleast economical and on time.
O… It is about LCA… Not about your neighbour…. Do pay attention to the rules…
Harry,
I am not a kid. Don’t start being negative or personal. I thought you had some PM about staying focussed on the topic. And yes it was sarcasm. The contradiction shows simplicity of your post. But I do agree with a part of your posting. Try to talk more structural. Leave those sentiments.
The only project that Pakistani are talking openly about is the JF17. And even that is not comparable with the info we get about the LCA or other planes at the moment. And it is normal for the Pakistani that they do not reveal all info. Being a boycotted nation makes you wiser.
About your info. What is next? A written statement for you at that expo? Please. You as an experienced person should know that PAF will not show arrogantly that they have something. And it is well known that they takl about keeping deals secret. That is one of the reasons that the might survive the planning period. We just started to talk about Erieye a few days before a visit to Sweden. You actually think they just improvised it? Or do we have to find a written evidence signed by the president? Well. I will post the ACM that you want to have a full report what he has discussed in Sweden concerning the ERIEYE…
Cheers.
I have spoken to Chinese engineers not long ago and they said that SD10 was not existing. They even say these days that there is no J10. But I do have to agree a little with Harry. Haven’t seen much evidence.
If all the commentary someone has to say on the LCA is “I’ll believe it when I see it” then that person should just sit down, shut up, and wait to see it. Instead of saying “I’ll believe it when I see it” over and over again. Yes, we get you, you have doubts. Just shutup and wait for more substancial and more intricate details of the aircraft to come out. 🙂
So are we still hung up on the nose is too round or the nose is too short “issues”? 🙂
We had (or even better HAVE) many friends from a particular nation that say the same about J10 and Fc1. We are not even talking about what it is becoming but what had happened over a few decades. Not much. And it is a light fighter that will have to replace Mig21…
Indian government is known for tough and long battles. It is a democracy and they do it correct. Although time and total costs (cash, pilots, optimizing hardware) is something they sometimes forget. I think they have cash. That is a fact.
Well… India got some works from Boeing. If China is accepted by the US then it could be the same. But looking at divide and conquerer tactic of the US I doubt that they will accept China.
About the nose and the radar. I doubt that the Indian designers would make that huge mistake. They have some option when it comes to radar. I do agree with Arthur that the room behind the radar dish isn’t very big. The radar dish is just a dish. The electronics are much bigger. But there are cases that plane noses are lengtened. Look at the Kfir upgrade. And yes even the mirage2000 has a version that has some more length… So that might be an option. Harry. Could you make LCA-Mirage2000 comparence? I think with those pictures put together a lot of questions will be solved. I am not that good in paintprograms so I hope you or someone else could fill in the gap. Merci.
Thanx for the pic PLA. Looks like the Chinese pilot was taken up in the Mirage 3DP for a ride. Do you know when the picture was taken?
No idea but that person next to him is probably:

It is an aviation forum so probably the use of composite in planes. Well. One pro of the old system is that we know all about them an dthey are easy to repair, cheap. But the composite reduce weight.
Well. Nothing wrong to do some training. But I haven’t heard in the Netherlands that they shut down (small) airports just for training. If they do emergeny landings then they just do that. Most of the timnes they do that a few times. Not a sudden emergency landing somewhere and then closing the airport.
Well… Chinese avionics have been improved. Just read the lates afm about that. Anyway here a pic of a chinese pilot visiting PAF and enjoying a ride in Mirage…

The problem is that the FC1, J10 and LCA are not finished or teated in service. It is very hard to compare them just by looks or dimensions. That they are not 4.5 gen? Not at this time (IF IF IF IF or as above it will…. yeah but it is not yet…). Maybe with some serious MLU but sofar we just have to see them like F16a… Or mirage 2000… Anyway. For first timers not bad at all. The one thing I do fing intresting it the totally different approach. One using high tech composites. Other more focused on plug and play. Looking forward to see the end products.
About J10. I don’t think we have seen avionics of that one. Somehow I do feel that it is not that superb. Maybe it is in the same cat as the MLU f16 but not more then that.
PLA
please keep the Pakistani this and that out of here, noone ever claimed that the LCA was a superplane, you did, stop the trolling, next you will accuse us of comparing it to the F-22, please stop it, the LCA is more than capable when it comes to handle the FC-1 and the J-10 and since we have no war plans towards NATO countties, the F-22 does not come into play.
I agree with your last part. It is a different scenario. But that is making the whole discussion not aircraft related. It is all about what LCA is and whether the price was worth the waiting. Not about other planes or countries. About the first part. I did not start throwing trash. I just replied correctly. Please read the posting I am referring to…
Thanks. That bulge is fitted on many positions. I have seen it on canopy. Behind canopy and now even under belly.
