Easyjet are actually not too bad you just have to check in early then you get the choice of the seats. I think they call the first 25 or 30 pax that checked in first.

I use the Air Britian ‘AFQR 2004@ book thats £6.95. Has all the european fleets and the world fleets from BAe31/Metro and above. Its a lightweight version of their main book but without the ex reg etc info.
I wish they would publish these books in October/November so you can put all the outstanding stuff from the summer in. When they publish them in april by the summer they are so out of date.

I will probably go, one of my favourite events. It reminds me of what air shows used to be like in the 70’s. And all those lovely yaks too.
Skybolt I assume all the hangars will be open as per normal? Any interesting/foreign visitors booked in?Thanks

Sadly the last original DR1 was destroyed while on display at the Berlin Museum in 1944. Along with the giant Dornier DoX it was the star item. Shame it was not saved along with the many others that found their way to Poland.

I picked up a lot of info at Farnborough on this interesting project. Amazing that russia only produced 26 airliners in 2003. I always though that the engines were thirsty as spares supply were big negatives about russian aircraft. Did the TU204 ever get re-engined?

Must be my old monitor as the second photo looks very dark?
The Trislander has had a couple of reincarnations. I think the newer Aurginy ones were rebuilt in Gurnesey and zero times from used frames? I also think there was a scheme in Pueto Rico to set up a new line but it never got anywhere. Anybody know anymore in regular service as they seem very rare now?

How many pax does the Trislander seat?

I think they are 16 seaters, being single crew too. They only fly the Alderney to Southampton and Bournemouth routes as well as inter island shuttles.
Have always wanted to take the trip as they only fly at about 3000ft, but its very expensive(£180 return I seem to remember) for about a hours flight.

I see no problem with one thread for logs. Particually for the less reported airports like LBA. A long list of stuff for say LHR is a tad boring but its nice to know what unuasuall stuff is about. And I do belong to civil spotters and run the Farnborough list with 300 members.

The ‘local’ press are just as bad. In our local ‘Farnborough 2004 supplement’
( yes it was very thin) photos of a F16 was marked as a F18, a 737 as a A319 and to cap it all a Hurricane marked as a Spit. Glad they were not in the ROC in 1940!

Personally I got bored with the show scene in the late 90’s. Now prefer the fly-in scene and the more informal shows like Abingdon Fayre and Little Gransden. For instance I gave up with Biggin in the early-mid 90’s after the static became non existent.Being a spotter Im certinally not joe public but there are a few things I would like to see return. Top of my list was the old Unipart RF-4 team who were excellent, and great music 🙂 . Also the Tiger club tied tougher aerobatics are seen rarely, although they dont tend to work on large sites. After the first three fast jet displays I feel I have seen them all.
As for joe public, haven taken a few to shows in the past. Whats on the ground matters just as much as whats in the air. There has to be the ‘something for all the family’ on the ground too. The important ‘non aircraft’ things are 1)not having to walk miles for anything,2) admission price, once you get over £20pp(say £60 for a family+other bits) you will put joe public off. 3) Ease of access, sitting in a jam with hot kids is no fun I can tell you.
Went to RIAT last year(very good) but gave it a miss this year and was glad when I saw what was there. Its too expensive to run , carparks are too far away and it no longer has its pull. I think a return to a biannual event is a good idea. Looks like the public days at Farnborough will also die by 2006.
Oh and please can we return the good old BoB displays? Even if its north one year and south the next? Not having a RAF display in the south for over 10 years in a disgrace.

‘GXA was in fact the first civil Halifax, with 15 seats. It was flown to aus mainly to get the crew home after the war. After its sale it only flew one charter to Singapore with a load of dogs! Another Halifax made it to Aus though. The largest Halifax user was LAMS who cheifly imported fruit and veg from europe but they tried ‘tramping’ and G-AIWT actually flew round the world on adhoc charters! They set up LAMS(Australia) with G-AIWK but in 1948 the company went bankrupt and it was stranded and parked next to ‘Waltzing Maltida’ until they were both broken up.
Just imagine flying a Halifax San Francisco-Honolulu in 12 hours!!!

Personally I would have much rather seen it go to Hendon where there are no transport aircraft at all IIRC. Although it has a more interesting British life than the one in the AAM at Duxford which is ex Spanish and SAS.

Today they got the B52 display right! I was at Blackbushe Tuesday when he did a flyby. The be fair he was about a mile south of the field, and seemed to follow the M3, i.e. 4 miles north of Farnborough. Amazing as the B1 and F117 have got it right every day.
Certinally not a vintage display. Could be nice tomorrow with the VC10 and BAC111 arriving in the afternoon for the public days RR display.
