Another rant about my ISP. WHSmith Net has been discontinued because the company providing the service has gone bust so everything has been transferred to the company that runs Breathe. I still cannot get through to them about my payment details (which are due to expire next week) and now it takes ages to even connect to the internet. I can’t wait to be able to switch provider, I just wish that Virgin did a Daytime or Off Peak package like I had with WHSmithNet.
I like Sabena’s last livery. Also I saw a beautifully clean example of a Ryanair 737 in Dublin, fantastically photogenic as the sun caught it so I have to say I like their livery. I mention the clean FR plane because I saw a disgusting KLM Fokker in Manchester, the tail was filthy.
Basically anywhere past the security checks is okay, there are loads of windows which offer great views and three sections to the terminal A B and C. I departed from A area, which is where alot of the BAe 146 fleet seems to leave from and arrive in. It is possible to wander up and down the three areas and take photos and video, no one bothers you and the aircraft are close enough for good photography. It is also easy to watch runway action from inside the departures area.
One of my favourite in-flight moments was on an Air New Zealand 747-400 flying from LHR-LAX and I had chance to go and sit on the flight deck, superb experience, awesome views.
My favourite flight however was on 6th July 2000. It was flight SN2174, my first ever flight with Sabena. It was also my first flight on an Avro RJ. The steward greeted us with “welcome aboard the best flight of your life”. During the safety demonstration he said “when we crash into the sea make sure you don’t get eaten by the sharks”. He was making jokes throughout the flight, which made it a fun experience. When we landed his final words were “welcome to Brussels. Sorry for the delay but what’s fifteen minutes in a lifetime!!” I only hope he continues to work for SN Brussels.
The civilian Hercules was there yesterday, I think it’s probably based there.
Some great photos there Andrew. The livery on the BA 747 tail looks quite nice, even though I wasn’t a fan of the World Tails. Nice to see a DC-8 as well, haven’t seen one of those since 1995.
Here are mine. On 16th June I flew from Manchester to Dublin with Aer Lingus on a BAe 146 EI-?TM (great flight thanks to Captain Siobhan). On 19th June I flew from Dublin to Manchester on Aer Lingus BAe 146 EI-CLG.
On 1st September I shall be flying from London City to Antwerp with VLM on a Fokker 50 (wonderful, wonderful, wonderful airline). On 10th September I shall be flying from Antwerp to London City with VLM on a Fokker 50.
Soon T5, I have about four photos left to take on my film, and then when it’s developed I will post some pics on here, promise:)

I agree wholeheartedly Kabir. I, for one, am glad to see the back of him. Maybe now our media can concentrate on more important things in the news and we won’t have his wife and brats rammed down our throats on a daily basis.

I am sick of my ISP – WHSmithnet. I’ve had no end of trouble with call charges being added which shouldn’t be, I finally get that sorted and then I need to give them my new card details before the end of June, but can I hell as like get through to them!!!! Every time I phone them I get the usual silly music and every few seconds “your call is important to us, please continue to hold”. I still haven’t managed to actually talk to anyone.

Heathrow is a good airport in terms of airlines and varieties of types, but it is not the easiest place for viewing and video. Manchester is easy for both video and photography. London City is an undiscovered dream, a real gem of a place witha good internet cafe on the ground floor.
In half an hour I shall be setting off to Manchester and tomorrow I shall be flying to Dublin on Aer Lingus BAe 146:)
Richard Branson obviously thinks well of his staff to do this. It’s a pity more large companies can’t treat their staff with some semblance of decency and respect.

Comet,
Just a question. Would you be interested in seeing VLM operating the Fokker 70? Would be lovely to see them operating a jet 🙂I have a lot of time for VLM. Seems like a good little airline with optimistic growth. Over the last few years they have expanded steadily with a profit yet at the same time have retained an excellent service with a regional outlook.
The new VLM Rotterdam-London City-Guernsey-Jersey-Zurich route will come as great benefit especially for connections on Swiss plus to tourism also.
Yes Saab, I would definitely like to see VLM operate the Fokker 70, I am only surprised that they have remained jet-free for so long, their flights are very popular and having a jet would help them to expand both routes and passenger numbers. I don’t know how they would go on at LCY with a jet though, the only jets there are the one owned and operated by the airport itself and then the BAe 146/Avro RJs which the airlines fly in. It would do well on their routes to and from the Channel Islands and Manchester to Antwerp/Rotterdam. They are a superb airline and deserve to do well, and they bring alot of potential for growth into smaller airports, which can only be good for local economies I think.
