Might go looking for that tomorrow. Hopefully VLM might bring it in. I’m sure Comet will have something to say about it 🙂
You’re not wrong there Saab !!:)
I like dream schemes on airliners, but I’m not sure about these advertising things, looks cheap and nasty. I like the current VLM scheme, very smart. Hopefully this is just a one off!!
Hello 🙂 Are you an Iceland fan? I couldn’t help noticing your avatar image. I used to fly alot with them when I went to Iceland.
Welcome aboard.

That’s superb value from Virgin, I understand they are a reliable train operator, operating a “fleet” of modern and former Intercity trains. The service on board is supposed to be good too.
Ha ha ha!! “Reliable”?? Not so long ago on our local news it said that a load of passengers had been stranded and missed other trains because Virgin trains suddenly decided they were going to miss out their stop in Leeds to make up for the fact that they were already hours late. It would probably be more reliable to walk than catch Virgin.
What a pity the meet isn’t 16th or 19th June, when I shall be in Manchester airport – on the 16th I fly out to Dublin with Aer Lingus at 11.30, and return on the 19th. I can’t make any other dates, but if anyone wants to come and see my aircraft take off they are most welcome.
VLM are also the best airline for London to Manchester – trust me. They are sensational.
I am in complete agreement with Frank’s sentiment, though not his choice of livery!! I hate those bloody stupid looking “nose spots” where the tip of the nose is painted black. I can only pray that this stupid feature never becomes fashionable again.
Here’s my choice…
It is Saab, very much so. It’s the only decent photo I’ve got of a Sabena aircraft (certainly one I’ve taken myself).
It is nice to see small independent airlines making a go of things – all too often these smaller carriers either go under or are swallowed up by bigger carriers like BA. Good luck to Air Wales, I really hope they are successful with their new routes. LCY is a good airport for a small airline to use, there is no real competition from big carriers. Look how successful VLM are on their LCY routes, FlyBe also use the airport and then there is Scotairways, they have several flights a day and seem to do well. Air Wales should do quite nicely there.
I’ve often fancied living abroad. I visited Australia and New Zealand back in 1995, and liked the places so much I thought it would be nice to emigrate there. I also fancied living in Iceland – I adored the country, visited six times in ten years and thought I would like to work with the Icelandic horses at a trekking centre. I fancied living in LA if I could train to be a vet, or else work as an operating theatre technician at Cedars Sinai Hospital. I would like to live in Belgium – great places, great food and drink, friendly people.
All those are of course pipe dreams. Although I am a qualified scientist, I am not on the “desirable professions” list of the countries I like, and then of course you need lots of money to be able to afford to emigrate successfully.

I enjoyed your first edition of Flaps, which you put on the forum for everyone to read, but I have to say I think there was a problem with your subscription method. I subscribed to the newsletter and never received a single one, so you may have had more subscribers than you thought 🙂
CRIMINAL. CRIMINAL. CRIMINAL. CRIMINAL. CRIMINAL. CRIMINAL. THAT TIMES A THOUSAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’ve just posted my views on this on the Flypast forum.
I don’t call myself Comet for nothing you know.
I’m sick and tired of the destruction of “preserved” Comets. What is the point of “preserving” these aircraft if they cannot be kept in suitable condition? What do those people who work in the museums do – I thought part of the job was to care for the exhibits, not leave them to rot. Too few Comets were built in the first place, too few “preserved” but too many destroyed needlessly. The Americans care better for their vintage aircraft than we do in Britain. I do not want to see just a bloody cockpit section – what good is that? I want to see the whole aircraft, only then can you appreciate the size of the Comet (not very big compared to modern passenger aircraft) and see what a beautiful design it was, especially the way the engines were blended into the wing roots, that looked superb.
I hope you flew SN Brussels Airlines or VLM in your dream!!!!!!!!!!
