    RE: Ambitions As A Child??????

I failed marine biology because I got so sick and tired of “draw and label five plankton,” “draw and label five marine worms”, “draw and label five things in shells”, “write an essay in a group of four on GM crops”, “design a poster in a group of four”, “fish and birds are important parts of the ecosystem but we don’t study them” – all things I had to endure during the three years of purgatory. We were conned into thinking we could do a study on something we were interested in for the final year assessment, we were told to spend the summer thinking about what we wanted to do. I came up with a really good idea, but when it came to it we could only study things related to the narrow interests of the lecturers (seaweed, things crawling on seaweed, things in shells stuck on rocks, fisheries economics and worms). I had to re-do my idea literally overnight to fit in with a stupid theme and I totally lost interest and motivation with the whole thing. Predictably my mediocre effort with the final study, coupled with my hatred for public speaking (we had to give a 15 minute lecture on something of interest to our narrow minded tutor) meant I failed on two modules. I wa stold to re-do my final year big project (which I refused to do) and then I was entered for an exam on the 2nd September 2002, the very day I was booked to stay in London prior to flying out to Belgium on the 3rd. Naturally, the holiday came first and I failed to show for the exam. Hope that answers your question.

RE: Firefighters strike – a review.

I am sick and tired of whingeing firemen who “only” get £21,000 a year and will now have to tell their poor kids that they can’t have any Christmas presents. These so-in-love-with-themselves individuals should try living on £35.90 a week like I have to, and I’m not so mean spirited as to say “no Christmas presents this year kids because I don’t earn £30,000.” In my area we have another emergency service who are on-call for all hours, every day of the week. These individuals also risk their lives in dangerous conditions to rescue often stupid members of the public. How much do they earn for this? Nothing. Who are they? The brave lifeboatmen of the RNLI.
The firemen in my area are a thorough nuisance. I live near a fire station and the other day I was returning home with my dog when these he-men had set up their picket line (completely obstructing the pavement with their tables and burning brazier). There was no way I was taking my dog near the burning brazier so I had to go round into the road in order to continue on my way, they just stood and jeered.

    RE: Problems in Antwerp

Foreign vermin rioting in your second city. Asylum seekers bring alot of benefits to an area, don’t they?!!!! I know what I’d do to them, but it’s not fit to repeat in decent company.

    RE: Ambitions As A Child??????

My one serious ambition was to be a vet. I toyed briefly with flight engineer, but I was laughed at because it was stupid for women to want to do anything in aviation, unless they wanted to be cabin crew. For that reason, commercial airline pilot was also a non-starter owing to the fact that it was damned near impossible for any airline to take a woman seriously. I ended up doing marine biology, which I failed miserably because I had better and more important things to do that resit an exam on a topic I detested. Instead I headed down to London City and flew to Brussels, nothing, least of all marine biology resits, would get in the way of a trip to Belgium.

    RE: The

Making the tankers sail far from the coast would make no difference. I spent three years having marine biology rammed down my throat until I choked, and we did endless things about ocean currents, tides and waves. The stuff would still end up on the beaches (how do you think rubbish from boats gets washed up onto beaches?)

    RE: Grand Prix Of Turkey

I agree with you 100% Frank, why should Belgium lose out in favour of Turkey? I can imagine the amount of money brought into the Spa area by the race and visitors etc, it is not the biggest tourist area in Belgium and the race is good for it. When I visited Spa it was a week after the race and the place was very quiet, we were the only tourists in the area, it seems that everyone else we met were locals, there are relatively few hotels there compared to Brugge, the area has to earn its cash somehow.

    RE: favorite pc games

I don’t have a PC, but there are many of the same titles available on PlayStation 2. I enjoy Civilization 2, any flight game, Silent Hill and Silent Hill 2, NHL Ice Hockey, Theme Hospital and Theme Park World. I hope to finally get a PC after Christmas when I’ve moved into my new flat.

    RE: Anyone like osama?

No I bloody well do not like the #####. I feel sorry for the victims of 11th September and the Bali bomb, not the pig ##### who orchestrated the attacks. I know that any Amnesty International loving do-gooders out there will be horrified by my views, but I don’t give a damn. May he and all his followers burn in eternal Hell, but then again, Hell is probably too good for them.
